He's going to the Dolphins IMO.I too am on the Gruden to UF (or FSU) bus. It’d be similar to what we’re seeing at unc.

My Bull Gator partner was actually happy today. He said Saturday is Billy’s last day as Gator head coach. He said that they have replacement targets and he thinks the money will get them one. He also [laughably] said coaches want to come to UF because of Lagway. I asked if he was going to be happy with a guy left over after PSU, Ark, UCLA, VagTech, OSU, and Stanford made their hires. Yes, he gave me the middle finger.
You’ll get no arguments from me there. That being said, he will still be an upgrade. It will be very interesting to see how Florida moves after this season. I would love for them to whiff on Lane. That would kill them.Yeah feel pretty good that Lane gonna get himself a fat raise from Ole Miss… I don’t care if Lane goes there not worried about him … he’s failed at big program already what makes UF any different? I just want their fans to not get what they want lol
UF isn't a big program...sayin...Yeah feel pretty good that Lane gonna get himself a fat raise from Ole Miss… I don’t care if Lane goes there not worried about him … he’s failed at big program already what makes UF any different? I just want their fans to not get what they want lol
With Cig staying at IU, I'd expect UF to be the best job on the market, unless LSU opens up. If LSU opens up I could see Brian Kelly going to PSU or some ****. Even though I still will keep saying Golden to PSU seems like a legit good possibility, especially after Rhule seems unlikely.
UF imo is a better job than Ole Miss, and if they got Lane, I'd imagine Lane would NOT leave unless he had absolute guarantees regarding NIL... So imo that would be a bit of a problem. Financially the best Decision UF could probably make would actually be to hire Franklin. He wouldn't require a buyout like I assume Lane would (or his staff). He may actually take a minimal amount of money and just backload it due to the offset language in his PSU buyout. And he's proven to be a winning coach and quality recruiter.
Theres a bunch of guys like Dillingham, but he does seem like he's all about ASU being from there. Jon Sumrall is probably the best candidate from G5, but I'd expect the Kentucky job to open, so he could be deciding between Alma mater and the better job. Should be an obvious choice, but going to Kentucky would be a safe job for like a decade for him... Jamey Chadwell or Golesh would likely jump at the UF job, but do they really want to go with a G5 guy again? I doubt it.
One interesting name would be Matt Campbell at Iowa St. Hes kinda been a midwest guy, but no doubt UF would be a major step up, and He's a very highly thought of coach. Like after Lane he is probably the biggest pull UF could make for a CURRENT P5 HC.
I'd rather them go get another G5 bum than get Urban. Although, he might tank the program with his recklessness.Wonder how he would do in the nil era with not the top $
Broooooo...I thought I was the only one who thought that when he posted. "My bull Gator partner" gets me every time. I was considering mentioning it today, but we don't kink shame over here. Get it how you live.Every time you refer to this dude as your Bull Gator partner it sounds *** as ****.
Without fail. Always makes me chuckle.
Who says Golesh leaves USF for that rotten corpse of a Progrum? If I had to wager now-I’s say they get Alex Golesh. None of the really elite guys will want to go to Dumpster-fire U. Jed has a sub .500 record and that will not move the money guys. So, they take the Russian who beat them and took an under-funded, under-talented team to the playoffs/near playoffs. The problem for us is that he can really coach.
They have money that USF doesn't............................Who says Golesh leaves USF for that rotten corpse of a Progrum?
Think their list is:
(1) Urban Meyer - you gotta ask and make a big pitch, but I don’t think he goes back. It’s been 15 years and he’ll have heart palpitations within 2-3 years of having that job.
(2) Lane Kiffin - top candidate that’s realistic. Two years ago, even last year, I think he would’ve jumped at it. But he’s king in Oxford, has built a winner, and seems happy in his personal and professional life for the first time. Only job I think he’d leave for is Alabama.
(3) Jedd Fisch - good coach and offensive mind. Took AZ from 1-11 to 10-3 in three years. Good guy too. Would be a very good hire for UF and he has deep ties as a UF grad and started his career there as a GA under Spurrier. Washington will fight for him and make them pay an arm and a leg.
(4) Alex Golesh - has built USF from the bottom off. Maximizes his talent and has physical teams. Don’t know he’s the splash they’re looking for, and they’ll have to compete with some other schools.
(5) Jon Sumrall - was phenomenal and Troy and has been great at Tulane. However, not proven in the P4, so a risk with high upside. Similar to Napier in a lot of ways, record and bio wise.
(6) Glenn Schuman - Best DC in football over the past few years. But, like Brent Venables, is waiting for the right job to open. Don’t think Florida is it for him but who knows.
(7) Will Stein - riskiest and youngest pick. Great offensive mind with high upside.
Zero chance they get Marcus Freeman. You don’t leave ND for almost any job (except maybe OSU, Alabama, or Texas). Kelly left under unique circumstances. Florida isn’t that tier of job. Also didn’t include Lashlee, since I think he waits for Auburn to open up.
I could see kiffin taking it for the exact reason you said. He took ole miss to top 4. If he can take ole miss to top 4 he’s probably thinking he can take the gator higher… provided that’s important to him. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has stayed in a job because of a good environment rather than jumping at a higher offer. I jumped more when I was younger. As I got older I valued other things higher on my criteria than I did as a young guy.I would LOVE for them to go with a defensive minded coach, OMG the natives would be restless.
Fisch would be the best fit on that list, IMO, of the established names.
I like some of the rising names, but I don't think they can handle another G5, low P4 experiment, even though that's probably where they can hit the home run.
They keep bringing up Kiffin but I think that's contingent upon whether or not he feels he's maxed out what he can do in Oxford.
yea I hear they're waiting for him to get out of his cardiologist' office....The Gators are rumored to be in talks with Urban Meyer.
and the fact that the kid he would bring would be better than this overhyped mediocre QB that's there...ask your gator buddy what makes him think if it’s Lane that he wouldn’t bring his own QB in that fits his system better than Lagway
