Cristobal doesnt do that. What he does is play it conservative deliberately. Also i relaize something, his bull with the timeouts is something he does in the 1st half.
Have you checked if Mario is more likely to burn first half timeouts if we won the toss and deferred? My guess is he burns them more often when we win the toss.

When we get the ball to start the second half, I think Coach's priority is reducing the chance the other team scores points close to halftime. He values avoiding delay penalties and making sure the defense is set for pivotal plays earlier in the game over saving timeouts for hypothetical final minute of the 1st half drives.

You might be onto something.

Mario has been very clear the last two seasons that they use analytics to guide their decisions. With that said, if the offense is humming and we are in striking distance, he will take his shot. What Mario and Dawson don't want to see happen is play recklessly at the end of the half they are winning and swing momentum to their opponent just "to prove" they are playing to win.

The biggest issue this season with the offense more than anything else are the mental miscues - pre-snap penalties and lack of execution.

I think Dan Mullen is a good coach - I’ve said it many times, his highest and best use is as an OC under a top HC. He doesn’t like recruiting so that’s an issue though I think the nil era would have given him a better chance at Ugator.
He is goofy but i really wanted mario to go after him when we fired gattis.

Yeah I will give the numbers a look by midweek to see if there's a correlation between getting the ball to start the second half and how we manage first half time outs and how aggressive we are to close the half. The UF game a good example I think. IIRC, we punted twice beyond the 50 in the 2nd quarter; we were getting the ball to start the second half.

"I won't believe he's getting fired until he's actually fired".

Man, I was there with Diaz. It's so satisfying to see a bitter rival go through the same pain.
Both of our bitter rivals,

Five years ago did you have think this is where we would be? Nearly halfway through a possible national champion season, or at least strongly contend for it, while both Florida and Florida state struggle with multiple years of less than mediocrity.
