Tears Gator Tears

They so are desperate for help on special teams they tried out Olivier Rioux (7’9” basketball player) but he only has an ELEVEN INCH VERTICAL so he was useless.

I'm a French Canadian and i was watching the u19 worlds vs USA on TV recently and my goodness he is slow.
He's pretty much a giraffe, but he certainly makes it hard on the offense when he is in position. If he can get any sort of explosion or foot speed, he'll be even more of a freak.

Too bad we played USA in the early playoffs rounds, I think those were the two top teams.

Yeah, he will definitely be a force this season in bball. And we play each other in Jville too. I just didn’t think an 11-inch vertical was even possible for someone who wasn’t a newborn baby.

Can someone please give me a substantive Answer on why DJ Lagway is going to be elite next year, and as a result, UF is going to win 10 games at least? I keep hearing that from Gator fans and SEC People (despite Vegas having them at 6.5 wins). What’s the rationale here beyond some unreal throws and hype?

If I bring up his underwhelming stats, it gets waived off as only paying attention to the box score. If I bring up how Billy is still his coach and has been underwhelming on for three years, the response I get is muttering something something DJ is elite therefore Billy’s offense will be elite too.

Even the narratives around him are off. I keep hearing from UF fans how they would’ve beat UGA if he stayed in for the whole game. Guy had five drives before he went out in the late 2Q with an injury. Was 2/6 for 47 yards with a TD. The TD was a 43 yd pass. Did **** all the rest of the time he was in. Also had some mind boggling interceptions late in the year. Should’ve feasted on a totally depleted Tulane team and threw two terrible picks.

I think the kid has the intangibles to be very very good and even elite. Great build, smart, unreal arm talent. BUT the consistency wasn’t there, and it seems like everyone’s just focusing on the highlights.

He and that Florida team last year reminded me a lot of 2021 Miami and TVD.

JD Pickell from On3 (I think that’s his name) has Florida beating Miami this year. His compelling reasons:

(1) Carson Beck will be in a new system (it’ll be game 4 by then???) therefore there will be some things to work out and the O won’t be up to speed.

(2) Florida is due a win against Miami

Wouldn’t you know it, he said the same thing last year except his reasons were:

(1) tHe SwAmP!!!!!!!
(2) Cam Ward will be in a new system so the O won’t be up to speed.
(3) Florida is the better team

That dude is the ultimate SEC homer.

FWIW, Lagway was second in YPA (ahead of Cam Ward) and the leaders in that category last year were the best QBs in the country.

Yes it is cherry-picking stats
Yes small sample size
Yes Samford

But still, the makings of an elite college QB are definitely there.

Napier and that offensive scheme are what might hold him back in my opinion. But the Gators' offense has plenty of weapons and a good OL, so I don't think the hype is completely unfounded.

Hey, I’ve been telling them too! I lived through the Muschamp era my grad years at UF and was one of the 200 people that lasted through the entire Georgia Southern game. I’ve paid my dues, dammit! 🤣

And it’s GAME CHANGER UNIT, not special teams. Get it right, bro.

If @caneingville was a dude...

He’s from Douglasville?!?!? Yeah, that’s weird that they haven’t offered.

Yes.

1. He goes to South Paulding, which isn't "great", but they play some decent competition.
2. He is 6'6" and weighs 290, so he's got room to gain weight.
3. He's Top 100 overall.

What are we missing? Help me understand, @flagator86 ...

7500 calories daily is the wheelhouse of olympic swimmers and the Tour De France.
Mind boggling to me. I mean, I get it. Calories in vs calories burned. It's just the thought that they actually need to take n that much (pause). I cannot imagine eating that much regularly. Then again, I also can't imagine riding a bike 2200 miles.

Man idk what it is with him and why they’re slow playing him but you KNOW what’s going to happen when they DO offer him?

HE GONE

I agree the physical intangibles are there. The guys trajectory (and how UF finished last year) just reminds me so much of 2021 Miami and TVD. The similarities are uncanny.
