Temple was in the MAC conference 2 years removed from being kicked out of the Big East and Golden could BARELY win if at all there.. Golden largely won 4-5 games a year IN THE MAC with BIG EAST players.. He had 2 solid year by temple standards IN THE MAC conference and everyone started calling him the "savior" of the temple program..

I remember there was a MAC analyst back when Golden was hired in 2011 and he straight up said Golden was a mediocre game day coach and had mediocre result for having a team with Big East talent on 'em.. Of course we trashed him and ignored what he said but next thing you know everything that guy said he was spot on.

I don't wanna get in a Al Golden debate I just had to point out he ain't save nothing.. I don't want to pump up Al Golden , but he did a great job at temple, Temple was where he belonged. Matt Rhule inherited a much better situation. Of course Temple fans will tell you they like Rhule better. But to compare the two is stupid.

Temple was on the brink of turning into a D2 program. The conference bull**** is irrelevant when you have 54 kids on your team.
