You have to marvel at the Edwards situation.

Edwards hasn't played much. He had a serious criminal-charge issue a few months ago, though it looks like the victim did not cooperate and the charges were dropped. The depth chart could not be more favorable for him. The timing is awful for the Gaytors, as they are way too late to hit the Portal. And their depth is now HORRIBLE in the defensive backfield.

Yes, we play them in the 1st game, and so they may not need the depth as much ON THAT DAY, but you never know when someone could be injured during summer practice, or even more relevant for the Gaytors, commit a felony which necessitates suspension.

Yet the Gaytor fans will spin this out as "he wasn't a starter" or "we expected him to leave", and they will ignore the IC rules and claim they can sign 30 guys in 2020.

Same nonsense, different year.

Who is ahead of Edwards on the depth chart right now? What type of corner is he? how much would he have played, assuming he stayed, for the first game?

Here's another depth chart from May. For some reason, the other depth chart had Trey Dean listed as "Star", which is like their Striker position.

At any rate, beyond Henderson and Wilson, their next 2 CBs up are Dean and McWilliams. And after that, it's pure freshmen.

Hilarious.

Was he considered one of those infamous blue chip flipz?

At one time, Edwards committed to Miami, then he decommitted. We all know that Gaytor fans selectively apply the term "flip". If someone decommits from one school and eventually commits to Florida, it counts a a Gaytor Flipz. ****, the Gaytors are still trying to claim credit for Justin Fields decommitting, even though he never chose the Gaytors.

However, if a Gaytor recruit decommits AND DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL, then it is NOT a flip.

Anyhow, yes, Edwards was a Gaytor Flipz:

"Edwards’ commitment to Florida was not entirely surprising, as the Gators were still assumed to have a shot with the three-star DB. Just today, predictions began to shift towards Florida for both Edwards and another DB, Miami-based CB Chris Henderson, who were both considered to be Miami leans before National Signing Day.

But Henderson committed to the Gators earlier this afternoon and Edwards followed suit. Florida had received Edwards’ last official visit this past weekend."

Yup, that's classic gator logic. I don't care if it's 2nd/3rd string leaving, you're not going to leave your starters in 100% of the plays every game. And at some point, injuries will occur.

I think they moved Whittemore to WR too.
