Gary Patterson

Do you guys sit around and wait for certain coaches/players to have a bad year so you can make a point?
Are we really implying that Patterson, who made TCU relevant while using second tier talent, is a coRch?

Mannnnnn. LOL

Let's be honest, he wasn't even getting second tier talent. He was getting the bottom third of the talent his conference haul in.

Dude has been nothing short of amazing during his time there.

I think the rest of the country probably is probably saying something similar. Would be interesting to gauge TCU's fanbase though. I believe Dantonio is still revered by Michigan State's as they seemingly just blame their OC.

He went 13-1 with an offense ranked outside the top 60 in most major categories. He's definitely a solid coach who still hasn't fixed his offense despite being the for years. That's why I'm curious why people pretend like they don't have very similar coaching careers. Dont remember the last time a high profile OC, or young upcoming OC even had their name linked to Mich St. But people ignore that.

It's amazing how fans can seemingly detach responsibility for an underperforming group from the head coach. As if he isn't responsible for the entire team's performance and the entirety of wins and losses. Coaches are, of course, also to blame for this - they only seem to change assistants when the heat eventually falls on them and they need a scapegoat to hang on to their gig for the next year or so.

For sure. It's especially exacerbated for coordinators though when the head guy is known for the other side of the ball and your side is struggling. Like you said, fans will often conveniently absolve the head coach of blame.

Shalala was told to hire Patterson by JJ when he was asked by her on his thoughts....The troll turned around and hired Shannon...that tells ya all ya need to know....

The 2014 TCU team was in my opinion the best team in the country. The wrecked Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl that year and Boykin was unstoppable. Overall TCU is not getting the talent that they need to get and Patterson needs to own this. They have a freshman QB that is going to be a big impact player next year, but outside of him they have no depth at the position.
