Garvin looks slow off the edge

Hire a coach at the end of his career that is coaching at Akron and expect good results

Which was 8 games, Jonathan garvin has a half a sack and only 4.5 tfls. That’s not cutting it for what’s supposed to be your top edge rusher

Garvin played 49 snaps vs uf and 59 vs unc(108 snaps total)

0 sacks
0.5 tfls.


Gregory Rousseau had 14 snaps vs uf and 12 snaps vs unc(26 snaps total)

2 sacks
3.5 tfls
People can point to whatever they want and complain about Not having that Gerald Willis presence at dt which is true to some extent but this is an even bigger issue. Patchan and garvin getting all of these snaps despite not being that productive. Trevon hill is also an nfl talent and he’s barely even playing a little more than Rousseau too with about 30-34 snaps or so. I saw at least 2 times vs unc where hill disrupted unc offense for a tackle for loss, 1 which I thought should have been listed as a sack.

Patchan by the way 43 snaps vs uf , 45 snaps vs unc. (88 snaps total)

Ok so remember just last year, goofballs on this sight were saying Garvin was better than JJ? I know you do, **** the week of the Florida game Im sure there are posts about how Garvin is a first rounder. So 2 games in he is no good anymore?

This man garvin is simply executing the defensive game plan, he's a real good athlete. When he's pass rushing he's getting pressure, also its a big jump up when you going from the weakside to the strong side, notice, not to many productive runs are coming to garvins side. Plus he's still developing himself too, 3 different d-line coaches in his 3years here, and he hasnt complained and is a leader on the team, we in good jands with garvin leading the way. He's the main one, along with pat bethel and patchan, we got a real veteran d-line group, i said it at the beginning of the year, they're a better run stopping d-line than last years group, because that's what ford brings, but as the season progresses, this d-line should start being more effective as well.

I’ve been saying it since last year that joe Jackson was better than garvin in pass rushing Tbqh. Thought he would improve in that aspect but unfortunately that hasn’t happened yet
 
Patchan and Bethel are just out there it seems. I'm sure they do a good job of doing their job but we have some dudes backing them up who should get a shot.
 
Team with glaring deficiencies in pass coverage that relies heavily on a rush to disrupt the QB so he wont pick up apart now wants to have those same issues AND drop the DL in zone while bringing a secondary player to blitz in his place? Hard to think anyone thought that was a good idea

Unfortunately but a first round edge rusher doesn’t go through 8 games without a sack or end the last 6 games without one as well

Yeah Willis overshadowed him bc its been a long time that we saw a DT on our team always in the backfield like a DE. But Joe Jackson was a beast... he didn’t have to beat you with his speed bc he was slapping offensive lineman silly with just one arm to get off blocks and make plays.

GW3 made every person on that D better. He was that kind of player for us. But Garvin is still **** talented I think he just needs to adjust. Agreed about Hill as well. Patchans size is nice but he’s not a big impact player right now.
