Game week, is this more of the same?

So the board has been upbeat and excited as it is every year at this time. More so with the FSU loss, and everyone penciling the U as ACC champs. So will this year be any different that the last 20+ years? On paper we have talent in all areas and a favorable schedule. But color me scarred from the seasons past, I won’t buy it till I see it on the field. This team sucked last year and while we had some bright spots, OL, WR, linebackers, et al if they lose this week it will be same old same old.

The game plan will mirror what GT did last week with a run heavy offense sprinkled with some passing. Let’s hope the OL is up to it and defense is as advertised.
It's a reasonable concern, don't worry about laughter from newbies...

Anyone that has been around for a long time had some disturbing flashes (while also loving it and laughing) watching F$U's defense get trucked by GT, especially right up the gut with their VAUNTED defensive line. We looked like that MANY MANY games when we were supposed to be "back"....

Here we go again for me....SHOW ME. We absolutely are paper monsters on both sides of the ball right now, that cannot be denied.

Anyone who knows football knows anything can happen on Saturday so there should not be a single die-hard Canes fan going into this game with a 100% surety we will win.

With that said ,way too many things would have to go wrong for this not to be the best team we have seen in a very long while.

Does that guarantee victory? No. But it gives us reason to be as confident about this season as we have been in years.

I don't understand why its bad for fans to be excited and upbeat about a new season. If you are not, why the **** are you even a fan?

Cubs fans always had a motto that "this is our year" during their 108 year WS drought. Should they have just said "**** it, we suck" every year?

How miserable do you have to be to go into a new season expecting to suck?

I don't blame anyone for refusing to lie to themselves straight in their face. To each his own

If you had changed the subject to “I don’t know anything, but I think we are going kick everyone’s *** this season”, people would be saying it’s an excellent and well informed thread and you would get lots of like emojis from the brain trust. You really have to play thee right game to successfully post here.

While we all know our coaching (development) has been pure trash for 20 years, their have been some good position coaches sprinkled in their. Where I stand alone, I have never thought Miami had the best talent in the ACC the last 15 years or so and again to me, surely not the last decade. This roster is hands down, the best roster in the ACC and it isn't close. That's why, their are no excuses this season. Again, throwing the kitchen sink at this season. All in on the portal, Guidry can run his full game plan this season. He is going to confuse some QB's for sure. Dawson will have some new formations sprinkled in this season. All eyes on the Swamp Sat. afternoon. I will gladly take any win, but I expect more than a close win. Pray injuries stay away, but with this schedule, no excuses.

If you EVER wonder why you never get invited to parties - or other celebratory gatherings - read your own post.

Hope you're not expecting a big crowd at your funeral . . .

It'll be what it'll be. I'm glad the opener is an interesting opponent. I'll just take it one game at a time beyond that. No excuses, we'll see if we're paying out money correctly this season.

This thread gave me moderate to severe plaque psoriasis with an acute side of mesothelioma.
Mesotheliomia sounds amazing. I don't know much about it, but During COVID, on TV, it sounded like the secret to everyone getting rich. Those commercials were on so often I couldn't stop thinking about it.
