Sickness, get some help seriously. What more do you need to see? This roster is not good, and we are in the Supers? That's because of coaching.
We lost 6 out of our last 7 ballgames. In horrifying fashion, most of them. We got run-ruled in the ACC Tournament by a team I wasn't sure played baseball. I'm loving being in the supers as well, I was excited last night, I'm pumped for the kids and for JD personally because I know he's a Cane.
But let me tell you a story about a guy named Kevin Keatts. Way back in March of 2025, Kevin was fired as the Head Coach of NC State Basketball. Which was scrutinized, because his team had just gone to the Final Four the year before. They certainly weren't the most talented team, but they went on a run, so by your logic, that's clearly coaching, right? Well why did they fire him one year later?
Because, aside from the March run of 2024 (which was awesome and fun and definitely happened and everyone should be applauded for it and people were happy), Coach Keatts was 17-14 the rest of 2024, and was 12-19 in 2025. And not very good in the years before the Final Four run.
So was he a great coach? Or did he catch lightning in a bottle for a couple weeks and make it to the Final Four? The powers that be in Raleigh sure seem like it was the latter.
So, again, good for JD, good for Miami Baseball, and I hope we keep it going. But 4 days in Hattiesburg doesn't erase the stink of 2 seasons. Sorry. Not here, not at this program. Win the series in Louisville and get to Omaha? Now we're starting to smoke. Win a game or two in Omaha?? Now we're starting to cook with gas. But, while we're in the process of running to see who can blow JD first, let's see how things shake out this weekend. I'm happy for him right now, I'm happy for the kids, that was one of the few enjoyable moments I've had following this program for many years now. So it's cool, and it's all good right now. But while you may not agree to pump the brakes, let's at least tap them. Making the supers and getting embarrassed twice in Louisville puts everyone right back in the same mood they've been for 98% of the last couple years.
