Fully understand and agree with the importance of securing the 2-0 start, and I'm higher on Lumpkin than most so I'm halfway confident that we can win tomorrow, but Miami winning this regional might just have required some outside-the-box thinking like saving your ace for Sunday.

I know how this sounds and deserve to be called a douche but Columbia winding up in the winner's bracket provided an avenue for doing something ballsy (stupid had it failed) and saving the bulldog Hugus for tonight. Thinking about these hypotheticals is more fun than dwelling on this game tonight so please excuse me.
 
I don't remember a pitcher who competes harder on 3-2 than this Allen kid. He wins the 3-2 battle every time it feels like.

We know the team is streaky. It’s now getting to the point where some of these at bats feel uncompetitive and might carry over to tomorrow.

This is one of those literal burn the tapes game. JD needs to burn the tape in the hotel parking lot of this game in front of the team and bury it in the grass.

Kinda dumb to keep their closer in this late today. We won’t see him tomorrow.
