Game 3 Hattiesburg Regional: Southern Miss, 7:36pm

Not the same situation but am reminded of Gino/JD throwing Ziehl against Maine in the 2022 CG regional. Hugus was the safe choice and most managers likely would have started him last night. But even if DeRias struggled we might still have been up to the task of winning a shoot out. This is easy to say in hindsight and none of us expected such a calamity tonight.
That one was a criminal ****up from a mile in advance. If Ligon wasn’t beating Maine, he wasn’t beating Texas and we were ****ed with the staff we had.

In this instance, there’s a reason nobody ever saves their top starter for Sunday. The first two games are just too important.

They are going for the kill. I like it. Most teams would just say f it and swing away. It’s the 3rd inning. It could be 10-6 next inning. Keep piling on through at least 6.
Yeah nc state had a 10 run inning today trailing by 3 in the 8th. You score as much and as often as possible, by any means

Southern Miss fans brought tennis rackets to the game and are mocking our worst players saying they got a tennis racket for them to hit with

Would love to have a 4-5 run inning just to make it interesting enough for them to use their actual bullpen.
That’s why you don’t shut it down before the 6th at least. You put a crooked number up soon and it complicates the algebra for them some.

Does Torres even have a chance at becoming an average hitter at UM? I don’t think he does. Might be a career .200 hitter that starts 4 years.

Maybe he proves me wrong with a Brandon Lopez type progression but Lopez was never this bad.

IIRC, that was the offseason where JD dropped the inexplicable "we don't play to win game 2" line
