Everybody knows summer workouts in shirts & shorts is a much closer simulation to real games than actual practices in full pads.

We literally have an All-American returnerOr returners…lol
UM can throw a rock from campus building and hit a HS future D1 quality KR/PR
bro what??? were not relying on our return game to save our offense lol our offense is fire, its not Cam ward and will be a different offense but its still going to be electric and putting up pointsThat OL comment is interesting. When healthy last years line was great. If this is the best of the Mario tenure we will be cooking.
Is Scott back to all sec form as a punt returner? Hope so. We need reliable hands and some game breaking ability. We’ve had nothing there since Jeff Thomas. And no more 35 jersey please.
Safety depth is terrifying. To put it mildly. Damari brown really stuck on being a corner? Could be just as good at safety I feel.
Marion and Scott giving us something in the return game could be huge against Notre dame. We need to tip the scales in other spots after losing the #1 offense. Specials and defense need to pull weight. Will we cover kicks this year? Notre dame has a Greta special teams unit and they can return kicks to the house. Believe they did it against Georgia?
no good news on mesidor and Wesley --- shockerTIFWIW
-Brown getting a lot buzz, will be on kick returns too with Marion
- Best OL they’ve had so far
-Toney expected to make a big impact right away in the slot
-They think Josh Moore is a star on the outside. They love Upshaw, the WR class is a big hit
-Schottand Gilbert are physically ready
-Blount looking explosive. Lightfoot flashing and Lowe is as advertised
-Toure the biggest pickup of the offseason. Game wrecker. Pruitt had a great offseason. Wiley will take some time to develop but is a freak athlete
-Lucas and OJ are big time. o’Connor needs to add weight but is an impact player
-Scott looks great back at nickel. “Home run addition”. Will be the punt returner
-Safety is a big question mark. They need Thomas to be good
The real good news would be if toure is healthy and the real deal he can singlehandedly mitigate Wesley's roleno good news on mesidor and Wesley --- shocker

Damari was the 2nd best CB in Spring with OJ out and O'Conner got nicked up. I think he ends up ahead of O'Conner and he can play outside or Nickel. He is stiff, though. They will move him around, so he could play a little S, but I personally don't expect him to be moved to S. It would help the team if O'Conner put on a few lbs and Damari mover to S. Damari looked better than expected and almost immediately getting back on the field. Several players will be moved around. That's what I like about this D. S is the biggest concern. Thomas has to prove himself to me and if him or Poyser go down, it's bad news. I think DE's will help fill the depth at DT. I don't expect anything from Simpson and doubt he plays much. Now if a DT goes down, it's trouble. Still not as bad as S. Stay healthy and I expect a huge difference in this D.
Last year's abhorrent play at Safety is quite a high bar to clear in terms of being worse. That would be an incredible feat to duplicate last year's incompetence much less exceed it.PFF ranked Miami's safeties as the worse pair in the country at tackling, so can it?
I just hope Damari is half as good as the board made him out to be while he was injuredDamari was the 2nd best CB in Spring with OJ out and O'Conner got nicked up. That's a very reasonable take and I agree. I do however expect a better than above average defense for many of the same reasons you listed plus the insane infusion of talent in the secondary. Depth at Safety still concerns me but Poyser/Thomas at Safety, Scott at Nickel plus the quantum leap at CB will be night and day compared to last year. Add Toure at LB and the coming of age of the 2nd year killers at DE to compliment Bain/Mesidor plus the trio of Blay/Scott/Moten at DT and there is some serious talent on defense. Also, the quality of the coaching staff on defense has been markedly upgraded at least on paper. I think a lot will come down to Corey Hetherman and his performance at DC in terms of game planning and game day. I'm very bullish on this year's defense. I think the DL is going to shock some people.Lotta talent on this defense.
Year 3 Bain, fully healthy
34 year old Mesidor
2nd year OJ should be one of the best DBs in the conference
2nd year Lucas should be one of the best DBs in the conference
Wes is at worst a pretty good backer
Tourae is a killer and I won't believe it until I see it but ALL reports is he is as healthy as can be
Blay should be at worst a pretty decent interior lineman
A ton of kids who have been here for a year who everyone in America wanted. Scott, Lightfoot, Blount, some very touted true freshmen
Obviously questions need to be answered. That abominable sewer we saw on that side of the ball isn't going to be washed out of our eyeballs easily. But Heatherman has plenty of ingredients to cook with here. I don't expect some incredible defense. This isn't going to be 1986 all over again. But to win the ACC, it doesn't have to be. Just be competent and complementary to the offense. Don't give up 30 ******* points every time we take the field. I genuinely believe there's enough talent here to put an above-average defense together. That's all I really expect.
