Gabois and McDermott

That is exactly what they did in the game and what they will continue to do until Gadbois returns.

Loosing Riley Gibbons to Stanford last year is starting to seem like a much bigger deal than we realized at the time.

Really need Linder and Darling to step up.

It seems Darling was playing better at RT in fall camp so hopefully he can step in and play some meaningful snaps.

I also guess its time to see what Alex Gall has in the tank. Feel like we are going to need him at G with the other injuries.

Gadbois has a partially torn MCL per his dad

****...that's prolly a couple weeks
Per some general medical site...

On average, it takes six weeks for a MCL injury to heal. The initial treatment for most grade 1, 2 or 3 MCL tears focuses on reducing the pain and inflammation in the knee while immobilizing the knee to keep it stabilized. This includes:

Resting, icing and elevating the knee
Taking pain relievers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, to ease pain and swelling
Wearing a lightweight cast or brace that allows your knee to move backward and forward while restricting side-to-side movement. It usually is recommended to keep the knee immobilized like this for 72 hours, depending on the severity of the injury.
The cast or brace may be designed so that you cannot bend your knee at all. If this is the case, you will need to modify your behavior so that you can avoid having to squat, kneel down or bend over. You should try to keep your leg elevated even if you are sitting in a chair, to reduce blood flow to the knee.

Once the pain and swelling subside, you will begin rehabilitation, which will include exercises to restore strength and normal range of motion to your knee. If your knee feels sore while you are doing these exercises, you should proceed slowly to prevent further irritation.

If the torn ligament does not heal sufficiently, you may experience instability in the joint, and you will be more susceptible to re-injury. The MCL usually responds very well to non-surgical treatment, although surgery may be required in rare cases. Depending on the severity of the injury, a period of rest, bracing and physical therapy usually is sufficient to heal the tear.

Once the MCL has healed fully, you should have a minimum of long-term effects, providing there was no other damage to the knee.

Recovery times differ depending on the severity of the injury:
A minor, or grade 1, MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports.
A grade 2 tear can take from two to four weeks to heal.
A grade 3 tear usually takes from four to eight weeks to heal, unless it is associated with damage to the ACL, in which case the recovery time may be longer.

Been retired for about five years but that is about right as I recall. If you have to have a knee injury, the MCL is the one to have. Once the swelling is down and the pain is minimal you can tape it up and play (did it myself many, many, many years ago.)

Get ready for the Kehoe shuffle...

I will say this , at the OL we have a crap load of talent , not much experience , but a ton of future NFLers , especially in the freshmen (redshirt or not ) and sophomore classes. Gadbois is the best of them all IMO though .

This sucks. Gadbois was getting better he's got that mean streak you want in lineman. Hopefully KC can medical RS

beast said Torn ACL for KC and Gadbois likely out till VT

That especially sucks since we burned KC's shirt already.

Did he actually play in the requisite number of games? I don't think he played a snap against UL.

is it games or number of snaps?

Games. 30% of the team's regular season schedule. If he plays in more than that he's not eligible for a medical RS.

If you play 1 snap you're no longer eligible for the automatic RS.

Then he loses a year. He didn't play vs Louisville, but played in all 4 other games (33% of the regular season) so he just gets 3 more years.

Time to unleash J. Brown.

LT Flowers - Darling
LG Linder - Wells
C McDermott - Gall
RG Isidora - Brown
RT Feliciano - Ododgwu

Wow the lack of depth at 2nd string.

Next year I see
LT Milo
LG Darling
C Linder
RG Isidora
RT McDermott

Sonny needs to get some pt, he isn't a project player anymore.

No Gadbois? I doubt that Milo will come in as a true freshman and lock down the starting LT spot. I would think Gadbois and McDermott will be the book ends for the next couple years.

It will be interesting to see McD and Gadbois battle it out for the RT spot. Many have talked about Flowers being disgruntled with this staff - I can see him leaving after this year with Duke.

McDermott will be the LT next year IMO. Hopefully the knee heals up.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gadbois and Darling are the bookends next year with McDermott inside.

That's not due to any issues with McDermott, I just think Darling is more comfortable at tackle and McDermott could do a nasty job at guard before kicking back outside.
