G5 Representative in the College Football Playoff is the equivalent to ___

Yes we are. I have no doubt that if the games were called fairly the other team would almost never score. They hold us every play, but call phantom holds on us. Its on purpose.

This needs to change for next year. Add a play in game for the best and highest ranked G5 team vs the lowest ranked At Large Team for the week following the college conference championships.

Oregon gets a cake walk pre-season game and a 3 TD favorite vs JMU.

What 2 P4 teams deserve to be in over JMU & Tulane?
 
Today was a great day for college football. Miami is in. G5 teams have a chance even if they aren’t undefeated. And just as importantly, it should push ND toward joining a conference.

Notre Dame doesn't have a better resume than either JMU or Tulane, their best win was USC.

Vanderbilt lost to Texas & Bama, there's maybe an argument for them, but not a strong one.

Texas with 3 losses & struggled all season in having close games with lesser opponents. No dominating wins on their resume.

USC? The same USC who lost to Illinois, Notre Dame & Oregon?

So, you'd rather have 7, or possibly 9 multi-loss SEC teams in the playoffs, than a G5 champion?

Well, Commissioner Sankey certainly agrees with you.

The playoff in the current format, how you lay it out is accurate.

Now I can argue that Miami beating Notre Dame is a better win than what any G5 team has.

Mya argument is to do away with the Auto Birth for G5 teams in its current form.

Have the best G5 champ play the lowest ranked P4 team (wether at large of conference champ - who ever is the lowest ranked) and play the week after the selection show.

You think Oregon getting JMU is good football? I know you don’t.
 
I'm all for the G5 teams being in it. Why should those kids play 12-13 meaningless games all year with no opportunity to be a champion? JMU has an excellent program, they have been an elite program for well over a decade. I'm excited for them, I expect them to play well.

They have a conference championship to play for and IMO, one spot, like every year except this one, to play for a spot in the play off via a play in game, if was making the rules.

Playoff spot in the play in game to go and earn it vs a higher ranked P4 team to make it into the real dance, just like March madness has play in spots.

Oregon getting JMU is no different than Ohio ST getting Tennessee last year, the results will be the same. That has more to do with seeding, than how deserving they are or aren't.

Plus Oregon has played down to their competition all year.

- They almost lost to Penn ST (the week AFTER James Franklin got fired)
- They almost lost to Iowa; 18-16
- They played Wisconsin, USC & Washington close until pulling away late in both games

The only teams they dominated were the bottom of the barrel B1G teams.

Why should some 3 loss SEC team get an automatic bid over a 1 loss conference champion?

Is the point of the playoff to give the 12 best teams a chance at the National title, or just a select few schools a chance to play 8 SEC teams?

Is this the College Football Playoff, or the SEC Invitational?

Only a real solid, undefeated G5 team that has a solid resume should only be considered on that merit for the playoff.

P4 teams shouldn’t be losing a spot to a G5 unless they are some kind of special team that EARNS it on the field. Not just award a spot to include them.

IMO, JMU and Tulane aren’t one of the best teams in college football despite what their record says.

In the current format, you are correct. I am advocating for a different format. Cap the conference teams to 4 max.

G5 team starting next year has to do a play in. IMO, they shouldn’t be taking 2 spots in a 12 team playoff. A lot of contradictions all around.

They don’t punish Bama for losing a conference championship game but yet make it a requirement for certain teams to win a conference championship hence why you have 2 G5 teams.

And yes, I would 💯 take Tennessee over JMU to play vs an Oregon.

Both Tulane & JMU beat P4 teams this season.

So, basically you'd just rather the playoffs be loaded up with SEC teams.
 
Thought it was stated previously, but there’s a specific reason for the clause of having at least one P5 school. P4 schools threw them a bone to end their threat of filing an antitrust suit if they were to be excluded, thus blowing up the playoff plan. It was also added they got their next best team if one of the P4 champions failed to be in the top 25. So, can thank the ACC & its visionary commissioner for the ***** up that kept ND or BYU out.
