Those stories are lame. Lets add some real fun stories:
Funny Story:
A young, up and coming high school offensive coordinator at a south Florida high school once had a 5 star WR recruit. An unnamed SEC skool offered this WR kid $80K to commit to their university. The young HS coach got wind of this and ended up brokering the deal in exchange for a job as an assistant coach on the staff of the unnamed SEC skool. Hilarious!!
Funny Story:
There once was a 5 star DB recruit from Miami who grew up dreaming of playing for UM, so when he was offered, he committed to UM. Then an unnamed SEC school offered his parents a deal they could not refuse. The kid was offered a six figure signing bonus. The kid's mom was given an brand new SUV. A booster from this unnamed SEC school even offered what amounts to be a corporate relocation package for the parents. Helping them move from Miami to the state where their son would play his college ball, helped arrange housing for them, even helped his mom get a job.
The kid was kind of saddened by this so he went to then UM coach, Randy Shannon, detailed the offer from the unnamed SEC school and asked Randy if UM would match the offer so he could play for his dream school. Randy refused and took this information to the NCAA, who promptly did absolutely nothing with it. Comedy!!!
Is the second story about Patrick Peterson?

No. Patrick Johnson.
In all of my years following this stuff, the Patrick Johnson financial package is still the biggest Ive ever seen. Its the A-Rod contract of high school recruiting. lol

Funny Story III:
There once was a 4 star D tackle from Orlando who had narrowed his list down to just UM and FSU. A week before signing day then FSU coach Bobby Bowden requested an in-home visit with the kid and his family. Bowden showed up with himself and five FSU coaches. FIVE!! (serious overkill) They had a nice visit.
The kid's dad really liked Larry Coker on a personal level, seeing that his son was swayed heavily by FSU's visit, he called Larry Coker and told him about the in-home. Larry asked for the last in-home visit, the father agreed. Two days later Larry Coker showed up with **** near his entire staff. Six plus Larry. SIX ASSISTANT COACHES on an in-home visit!! 3 of them had to sit on the floor while they talked.
When signing day came, the kid chose UM because, as he put it," Coach Coker's whole staff showed me how much they wanted me at UM..."
While you're trying to guess who this DT commit was, think about Mohammad Berry's in-home visit with a group of Nebraska coaches last night. This stuff means something.

Joe Joseph.
Funny story IV:
There was a low rated juco QB commit from California that signed with UM. When he got on campus he realized that he would be buried on the depth chart behind a future Heisman winning QB.
Fast forward a half decade later. That juco transfer that never saw the field while at UM had a younger brother that was a high 4 star QB recruit back home in the bay area. Every school in the country wanted his brother, including UM. The younger brother was leaning towards Cal or USC until he asked his brother about his time at UM. His brother's response:
"IF I had to do it all over again, I'd rather ride pine at UM than start at Cal."
The little brother committed to UM shortly thereafter....and also won a heisman trophy while at UM.
alex collins' mom running off with his LOI was pretty funny.
that whole recruitment was retarded. how a kid can hop on a plane from South Florida a 'cane and get off in Georgia a razorback is beyond me.alex collins' mom running off with his LOI was pretty funny.
I didn't know anyone close to that one so I never got any back story info. All I remember was that Alex Collins was living with his high school coach and not his mom. I believe the coach had some form of guardian rights but not sure. I do remember them faxing the LOI to his mom's house and her literally driving off with it. That is pretty hilarious.
