Funny, but maybe true....

If the players make him look good what's the difference? Is all about winning, give the credit to whoever you want but win.
The difference is:
  1. When you run up against equally talented teams you get what Clemson did to us. You need to know what to do with that talent.
  2. It's not sustainable. No one can recruit year after year, head to head with Bama or Clemson and come out even without a couple of national championships in hand for credibility. And if you think you don't need the scalps on your belt, see # 1.

Agreed.

I just hope we spend less time searching for a coach next time.

Yep. We searched way beyond any reasonable time trying to get it right.

I can understand wanting to be thorough - but week after week, after week - no telling what other great candidates fell through the crack.

Yes, but displeasure with the football program doesn't require insulting the university.
Well if you’ve seen our steady drop over the years in academic ranking then I would say the Suntan U moniker is starting to fit pretty nicely “again” down there in sunny coral gables. Lol

It earned that name collecting easy GI Bill tuition money right after World War 2. There was an article published about it and they slowly worked to erase that image. Tad Foote really put the focus on academics. We have a long, long way to drop to get back to the Suntan U days.

By "fans," you mean the people who actually contribute to the program?

NO ONE IS FINE WITH 9-3

Those of you that do nothing but buy tickets and expect us to go 15 and -2 and throw a temper tantrum every time we lose are a much, much bigger problem than those of us who realize that we are literally incomparable to every other major college program, and don't have the resources of any of them.

Look at the last 20 years of national champions and tell me which program not named Miami looks like Miami. If you're gonna say USC, you're a moron.
Like clock work here comes one of the main Hecht center moles to desperately try to change the narrative on here to protect his bosses flake and manure. 🤢🤮 How many times do we have to tell you Cash”Manure”Cane that we have sniffed out your Hecht troll stink and ain’t buying a ******* iota of the manure coming out of your mouth. Your dumb@$$ comes on here talking like your the only one who went to the university and your the only one who donates to the university. Lol go find the tallest building in coral gables and see if you can fly because you don’t know **** and you certainly don’t know much people on here have donated! You failed loser, just like your loser bosses Tranny fvcker and lispy failed. 😂🤣

Maybe but you can’t deny that we’re dropping and if we continue that current trajectory we could be on our way back to that nickname. Not saying will continue to drop if we get a good next President because shirtless boy has failed their and in football. God willing the next President cares about both academics and sports.

I can agree with that completely.

Then chase em out big boy. Until you or any other porsters are in charge of the finances and hirings, relax.

Aint nobody happy with 9-3 or losing to NC like that. I do not want Manny here, never have, dont even think he was a great D coordinator. But until Blake James is gone I don't want him making any more decisions. I hope every coach we hire is the man, same with Manny, I hope he evolves(would bet everything he wont) and brings #6 home. Once hired you have to give them their window to do the **** thing, unless its a complete train wreck. After going from 6 wins to 9. dont be such abitch to folks who see progress or are optimistic.

Did Manny improve the team this year? Yes. Does he need to make some changes to keep improving? of course. Do the fans smell a major funk with Manny? yes. Did he deserve the job? No. Does he honestly deserve to be fired now? No. Theres 120 other schools plus 20 odd NFL teams looking for The Man too.
He won 8 games this year, not 9. And the odds of him winning a bowl to get to 9 are increasingly low as we all have seen how well he can get the team motivated and prepared especially after a layoff and nothing to play for. 🤢🤮 but I agree whole heartedly with you, manure stinks and will continue to stink!

Do people realize that the last time this program won a national championship, Larry Coker was the Head Coach?

Jimmy's and Joe's >>>>> X's and O's. Always have. Always will.

So, I'm not sure how recruiting talent that's so good it masks your deficiencies as a coach yet allows you to win big is a bad thing? Isn't winning football games the only thing that matters? Oh, not on this board. My bad. If you win, but that one guy dropped a pass while you did, he should be relieved of his scholarship and the position coach should be executed in front of his family. I forgot.

That’s the whole point of what I’m saying. They think the status quo is ok because of dopey “fans” like him.

This forum has nothing to do with the decision making process at the university.
If you think mopes or slurpers have any influence one way or the other by what they post then you truly are more clueless than I thought.

You were in diapers the last time we won anything. I've had season tickets since before you were a gleam in your daddy's eye.

You know less than zero about what a fan should or shouldn't do or think.

Grow up dumbass.
I was born in 1995 and i highly doubt ill ever see Miami back like it was before.

I'm tired of reading the "real fans" railing against hypotheticals 9-3 seasons when this team has put together back to back 9 wins seasons ONCE in the last 15 years. MFers really think if we hired Saban today this team would win the natty year 1 and go on a never seen before dynasty. Building a program takes time, I hate we're stuck with MD for the next 2 years, but it's the hand we were dealt let's hope he can grow as HC.

Obviously we will point out the staff's flaws, but all this agression against others posters just because somebody dares to say 8-2 season is progress over the 13-13 record in the previous 2 seasons is a bit much,

@OrangeBowlMagic your frustration is understandable But fan boards all over are wild and full of unreal expectations and people who don't know or really understand the game. And you are right a lot of folks are still trying to hold the U to the standard of the bygone days of greatness.

But in some ways the U has gone completely backwards, starting w/ Shalala and her undercutting of the program. And you have to admit the coaches that have been hired the last 20 years have been incompetent and a bit over their heads. And when you think "Jimmy's and Joe's" our "Jimmy's and Joe's" have been for the most part quantitatively better than the ACC's which we out recruit practically every year w the exception of FSU and Clemson.

So its not unrealistic to expect the U to beat these teams and at least win 9 games out of 12 per year.
But we have had year end and year out a level of incompetence for which there is no excuse. Coaches hiring their son to be a qb coach w no experience, a d coordinator that doesn't fit the players( Golden) a defensive scheme that involves too much gambling (Diaz) And most of the fan base can see that these things are problems.

And most teams at the very least are disciplined and understand the basic concepts of football and can execute the fundamentals. Our team year after year comes out undisciplined. Every year we get silly illegal procedure penalties, offsides in crucial situations, personal fouls, targeting, dumb holding away from the play etc. that you see with other teams on occasion, but the U players always seem to be doing it, it has become almost a hallmark of U football. And not one coach has put their foot down and threatened to sit folks or pull scholarships. Al Golden and Shannon put players off the team for off the field stuff but none of them threatened the locker room.

Players make dumb decisions consistently that screams a lack of understanding of the game and situational football. And the inability to catch the football or tackle or take proper angles is one thing, but the coaching staff continuing to accept it is just another. And most teams improve from the first game to the last game, but the U teams seem to more often digress by years end (just look at the facts), which suggests an inability to teach, or consistently get the players attention. You simply cannot ignore the fact that many players do not reach their full potential here, in fact you see some of those folks in the pros doing fairly well (Gus the bus and Sam Shields come to mind)

Game prep is consistently not there from one coaching regime to another. This year the players even commented on it after the Clemson game. And it was there in the NC game and it demoralizes the players. And none of the coaches even had the ability to just motivate the players. Some coaches aren't great X and O guys, but they win cause they are ready to run through a wall for the coach. Players sometimes give up/quit because they are being let down by the folks who are supposed to know what they are doing. And the list goes on and on.

Nobody is looking for perfection and championships every year (well not the fans with real sense) because we can't compete with Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson for talent cause we don't have the infrastructure or the money, however we could pull a few more recruits if we just win the games we should and at least not embarrass ourselves. But its not unfair or unrealistic (considering we do out recruit most of the ACC) to win the Coastal and compete for the ACC championship most years. Nine/ten win seasons is simply not unreasonable, but yes it is if we continue to maintain this level of incompetence at the top. And yes the ref's seem to go out of their way to penalize us but a good coach has got to say to the players its us against the damned world and get them to play like it.

And its not unfair or unrealistic to expect the football staff to at least be competent enough to just do their job and take care of the basics rather than collect fat checks and stare at the field like a deer in the headlights when adjustments clearly need to be made.

Personally I just hope we get LUCKY! I hope Manny is able to recruit so much talent that the coaching won't matter, as has been the case with some other programs. Quiet as it's kept I am not so sure Saban would be doing as well if he didn't have the top one or two class every year.

The way our athletes recruited for Jake was special a bond has been made and if it takes root in others this tells me good team leadership is taking form.
