Fuente

Fuente has won 9 games in a row, and 10 of his last 11. He does have a bowl win, and a conference title..neither Golden had. He also is a high powered offensive coach, Golden was a DC before HC. I prefer offensive minded HC's.

Memphis is 10 of 12 in terms of all time winning percentage from AAC teams.

So, you would have been OK with Miami taking the coach from Cincinnati after a 3 year HC career record of 18-17 in C-USA and the Big East?

A guy who never finished better than 4th in the Big East, or 2nd in C-USA?

Get out of here! Most message board fans would have hated that hire over Randy Shannon.

It probably would have worked ... But there was nothing obvious about Dantonio becoming a top 10 CFB coach when Michigan State hired him.

Fast forward to today ... And people are knocking Fuente? A guy who actually won his conference ... Which is the same conference Cincinnati is in.

We don't need to debate past tense vision. We just need to understand it takes vision to look past W/L records and conference affiliations ...

Vision is recognizing Fuente is "next", and recruiting him now ... Before EVERYONE comes calling after the season.

The covenant, which Fuente introduced last year, is a 48-by-36 inch pact between the individual players and the team, listing the pillars, or core values, of individual accountability, social responsibility, academic integrity and competitive excellence.

That's a hard PASS from me. **** no.

1. Mark Dantonio
2. Butch Davis
3. Todd Graham
4. Tom Herman
5. Chad Morris

If UM had any vision in its leadership and hired Mark Dantonio when he was attainable I believe he would have done great things here.

I admit I'm playing the result with Dantonio.
I am not debating Fuente at all he shound absolutely be considered.

He made the Div II playoffs 3 times in 15 years at Colorado School of Mines. I understand they had recruiting disadvantages; however, nothing in his resume stands out as "can't miss". His results at Montana will be a wash.....considering every coach before him won and won big. At best he's an unknown. Just because Sweeny mentioned him in a press conference, he's had some cool articles written on him and he consults & strategizes with some of the top spread coaches in the nation.....doesn't make the guy a home run, slam dunk hire.

In the short time I've watched him he's come across as Mike Leech Jr. Some of the dumbest in game decisions I've seen since well.....Mike Leech.

I'll be watching pretty much every game this year since I'm from Montana. I'll keep ya filled in on the genius that is Bob Stitt.

Who said anything about a slam dunk? There are no guarantees. But I like some of his qualities; he's a tireless football junkie who's obsessed with looking for new techniques and coming up with wrinkles. I also like that he believes in balance. He doesn't want to pitch around 90 times like Leach if he doesn't have to. That's why Hal Mumme/Mike Leach haven't had as much success as a lot of the young guys who've come from that coaching tree.

Bob Stitt just killing it. LULZ

Montana lost to Liberty 31-21, that is probably what he is hinting at.

Memphis looks good on O, but the defense is terrible. I'm looking forward to the Memohis/Houston matchup.

Defense looked terrible. Worst. Even the backup quarterback killed these Memphis clowns.

Fuente is not Miami

PotatointheBrain is obsessed. Keep wearing the tin foil.
Doesn't he have a point though? Memphis just gave up 752 yards at home.
They returned 3 starters on defense. Had the 21st ranked defense last year. I know numbers don't tell the whole story but there's a reason for the drop off. Don't know how their defense looked last year though.

They also lost their DC (Barry Odom) to Missouri.

So new DC and 3 returning starters on D.

2014:
Scoring D: 11th (19.5 PG)
Total D: 27th (349.5 PG)

2013:
Scoring D: 44th (24.6 PG)
Total D: 39th (370.7 PG)

I am not denying that it happen. I am only stating that there is more to it than simply one game. They had a pretty good defense last year but...

3 returning starters on defense and they lost their DC to Missouri.

Who plays defense anymore really?

Look at the college football playoffs last season. 77 points scored in 1 game, 62 points in another, and 79 in the other. Those were the supposed 4 best teams in America.

In today's college football, you better be able to score, and score alot.

Alabama and Ole Miss may be considered the 2 "elite" SEC defenses, and the score the other night was 43-37.

Look at TCU, they decided to change everything because defense alone can't do it. Now they have a pretty good offense.

Fuente calls some awesome offensive games with inferior talent..Not that he will ever get to Miami but would look great as OC and a Jim Leavitt or Greg Schiano DC, along with a fast pace offensive head coach.
