I say Miami should take a long look at Montana Head Coach Bob Stitt he is an offensive genius.

AL Golden has set up a very foundation on how organize a program, it is just his on the field philosophy that has been suspect. So keeping Goldens operations procedures to help with Stitts transitions to the FBS level will Stitts to just focus on the X's and O's of running the on field issues.

Stitt has said he gives his Defensive Coordinators autonomy to run the defense their way as long as it complements his overall football philosophy of playing fast and getting the offense the most possible number of possessions. South Florida not only needs Miami to be a champion again, but the High school coaches down here could use a Technical Coaching of advanced philosophies Stitt could bring to the community. An pairing him with a DC that is known for being a defensive tactician such as say a Dave Aranda would infuse a lot of technical coaching ability that has a proven they can effectively coach up athletes combine with south Florida's talent would produce results quickly.

I obviously like Stitt, but there is no way Miami would ever hire him. The fans would riot.

So true.
But a good number of them are clueless.
I mean, look at some of them now clamoring for Herman.
The guy was an OC at Rice and Iowa State as recently as 4 years ago
and no one was singing his plaudits.
Those same folks who are now members of his Fanboy Association would
have been internet rioting if he had been hired as an OC a few years ago.

You don't believe Herman would be a good hire? I don't have a problem with most of your candidates but I think it's strange to laud them and not put Herman as a tier 1 candidate. And any person that has access to google knows he would've been a good hire a few years ago.

2008 (Rice): 8th in scoring offense, 10th in total offense, 94th in sacks allowed, 10th in 3rd conversions (52%), 17th in red zone efficiency & 2nd in red zone td %.

He was up and down a bit at Iowa state but he dominated the past three years at OSU & learned under the best.

I think he would be a wonderful hire for this program.
However, I don't think it's a realistic possibility given the way this program - actually, this school - operates and behaves
with respect to football.
Commitment-wise, this school would have to go on steroids to hire a guy like that who, if he's as good as we all suspect,
will be in line for one of the big Texas openings in a couple of years.
I am glad you did your research on Herman and noted that he has been a very good coach for a few years, even before his stint at Ohio State. Even at Iowa State I would say he did OK given the sort of talent he had to work with and, additionally, the head coach at that school may not last much longer at Ames, but he is a very good coach and knows assistants.
That place is just a dead-end job.
My point is that folks often are looking for the shiny new stuff when it comes to coaches instead of doing some
research and then jump on them when it becomes fashionable.
You try to bring up some of these "lesser-known" and the conversations invariably end up with "we want
Butch" nonsense.

By the way, another name to google is Ed Warriner.

I think he's just saying the fans like Herman NOW, but would've hated him when he was a lesser known commodity.

1. Mark Dantonio
2. Butch Davis
3. Todd Graham
4. Tom Herman
5. Chad Morris

from that list give me Morris, Herman, Butch. Throw in Mark Stoops as well.

I would focus less on Graham and more on his Offensive Coordinator.

Mike Norvell Biography - Arizona State Sun Devils

You think Norvell is qualified to be the HC at Miami, now.

No more, no less than his boss, Graham.
Graham's background is on the defensive side of the ball, so you could argue that
Norvell is running half of that operation.
You could also argue that his resume carries more weight than Tom Herman's, whose Boss
at Ohio State was an offensive guy.
Not my no.1 choice, but something to consider.

What is this fuente specialty? Offense, defense or pillar talk? What has he done of note in past? Guy sounds like a golden clone just from the little I know, put him in same bin as Cristobal, not interested at moment. We cant take chances on guys like that. If Im taking a chance, give me a guy like herman.

My concern with Graham is that he's a defensive coach whose defenses are never good. He's done well, though.

His specialty is offense.

He was Gary Patterson's OC when they started throwing up big numbers and winning BCS bowls (developed Andy Dalton). Then he left and TCU's offense went to complete **** until last year when Patterson brought in two Air Raid guys to spice things up.

Won 10 games, a conference title, and beat BYU in a bowl game. His three losses last year were @UCLA, @Ole Miss, and Houston.

Before he arrived at Memphis, they had won 5 games in THREE years.

Fuente is legit.

Having been the co-OC at TCU before his current job, he runs an offense that has a little bit of everything from pro-set
to option stuff, which is what TCU used to run before they hired the Mike Leach disciple (which I like better).

Strangely, I am more impressed with what he did on the defensive side of the ball last year.
Very opportunistic defense, but his DC last year returned to Mizzou as the DC.
He seems to like the Mizzou guys on that side of the ball.

I don't think he is qualified to be an HC at a major program yet. I think it would be very difficult to justify his hiring for a major program at this juncture.

That's fair.
Good discussion, btw.

LOL at passing judgment on Fuente for taking over the worst program in football and turning them into a conference champion in a couple years. Prior to doing that, he had them competing and coming close to beating MUCH MUCH better programs. It was a proper build from the ground up at Memphis, and he's a total bad ***.

Just to show how goofy you are for pointing out Fuente's overall record as the reason for not wanting him, Jim Harbaugh was 17-20 after 3 seasons at Stanford. Stanford, as a program, has GIGANTIC advantages over Memphis.

What has Chad Morris done as a HC to warrant such plaudits? It's awfully early to tell if he's a top HC or not. And Stoops better win some games. So far, he hasn't even reached the levels that Guy Morris and Rich Brooks did at Kentucky.

I love it!

Guys are "anti-candidate", but don't know anything about the candidate. Lol

Fuente got Andy Dalton drafted. As many Bengals' fans will tell you, Dalton is nothing special.

And Memphis is averaging almost 60 points per game in their 1st 2 games ... Which is better than us.
