Florida isn’t any type of blue blood program. You take out Urban Meyer and they’re a perennial 9 win team, I would take UT or the Nebraska job before I took the UF job.

And if you take out a decade of our history we're pretty mediocre historically, too.

Meyer was at Florida for 5 years. Four of which where they were at an elite level. Florida was really good under Spurrier, particularly in the late 90's. Outside of that, UF's history doesn't compare to UM's.

Just playing your game... IF UFelony offered Fuente the job, he'd be an idiot not to jump at that over VT in a heartbeat. He can double his salary going to Turdville.

Frankly, I think he's a better fit at Vag Tech, and my choice would be to get him out of our division. He could be a thorn in our side there for 20 years if he likes it in Deliverance country. He could succeed at UFag, but that program is badly broken, and he could just as easily get run out of town in 2-3 years.

Virginia is not Deliverance country.

Blacksburg, VA is!!!

Outside of the DC suburbs, VA is Redneck Central. (Only other exception would be the African American sections of Richmond, Newport News and that surrounding urban area.)

You don't have to go too far into Virginia to encounter VA rednecks. You certainly don't have to 4 hours to Blacksburg. There are plenty within 1 hour driving distance of DC.

A program’s level of power should be judged by what it has been able to accomplish under various coaches. UM is a monster because it won/should have won NCs under 5 different HCs over the course of 20 years. A couple of those coaches were far from transcendent coaches, who never accomplished anything elsewhere close to what they were able to accomplish at UM.

UF, on the other hand, needed two transcendent HCs to accomplish anything in their history. How many Urbs or Spermier in his prime are out there? Every time that UF job opens up they shoot for the moon and wind up settling on guys like Zook and McEltooth.

Fck UF and any UM fan trying to pimp that place as special.

Yep. Spot on.

It's a good job at UF, because there is financial support for the program, bendable academic requirements because it's a state school, and they are in the best state in the USA for recruiting. But is it a great job? No. The fan base is no less delusional than any other program that thinks their ***** is rose water, and this gives the admin an itchy trigger finger.

Is it a great job because they have great facilities? Guess what, so does everyone. (including UM now)

Is it great because they play in the SEC? Not really. It's a nightmare of corruption and you will never keep up with the guys who are simply better at cheating than you are.

Are they great because they fill the stadium? Bullsh*t.

Oklahoma State fills the stadium, but how would you like to spend your life in Stillwater? Fondle my low hanging nad sack on that one. It can't be a good job if your quality of life sucks. Would you take the job as CEO of Apple if you had to do it from a North Korean Prison? Don't think so. Living in Gainesville isn't much better.

The problem with the lizards is that instead of recognizing they have a "good" job to offer, and building around that, they pretend they have a "great" job to offer and it sends them sideways. It's how you end up hiring a guy like the sharkbanger, and then firing him after 3 years when he embarrasses himself (and you), only to end up with randy "where are my meds?" shannon at the interim helm.

Which is all fine by me, as the more pathetic they become, the happier I am.

Apparently zbrod thinks 10-win seasons are poo.

Ten wins doesn’t make you a championship program...national championships do

Stop it. Spurrier, as much as I hate him/it, raised UF to Miami (and FSU)'s level. Look at where UF was as a program before he got there. Tulane had more SEC titles than UF did.

he raised it but no where near um/fsu level at the same time.

Actually, he raised it above where UM was for most of the 90s

miami and fsu are two names people think of when they think of college football. the gators never developed that brand.

I've lived in metro DC and Virginia Beach and now live in a predominantly white neighborhood in Richmond. My neighbors and I are not rednecks. You don't know what you're talking about making such broad assumptions and statements.

I don't really want to defend them, but that Spurrier guy was pretty good. 122-27-1 and 87-12 in the SEC.

I hate gators and Steve is no acceptation but at least he is funny. I seem to remember him saying something after the street fight before the Sugar Bowl his last year that implied that the Canes kicked the gators rear.

C'mon man, nobody is talking about you and your neighbors living in the suburbs of Richmond or VA Beach. Blacksburg is absolutely Deliverance country, if there is such a thing. It's beautiful country if you're in to that sort of thing, ok for me to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there, but it is absolutely well out in the middle of nowhere and while there are certainly good people everywhere, there are also lots of "hill folk" in that area.

Heck, I went to college in Southern MD, a lot less remote than Blacksburg, and there was definitely an element down there too. I wouldn't even necessarily say it was a racist element, although you'd definitely see it come out on occasion, but it's really more an uneducated, unsophisticated, never been out of the County you were born in unless you got picked up by Johnny Law and had to appear in District Court kind of element.

So Fuente is going to swing by Gainesville on Sunday after the game?

I heard he's spending Friday night there. If a deal is not signed by breakfast on Saturday, he will make his way to Miami on Saturday late morning, probably returning to Gainesville on Sunday to wrap up negotiations. He is absolutely committed to coaching the Hokies in this game, however, and is negotiating hard to have the Gators allow him to finish up the regular season with VT.

I’m dying.

Fuente is ******* his players over for the Gatah Brown Bag just before they come in here.

How typically UF.

I kind of feel bad for Radio, though.

not the point guy...

This moron is saying that we are a mediocre team if you take out one decade in the 80's.

We have a mediocre record all-time sans the 1980's.

That's just a fact.

Again, I'm not a fanboy like you are so it doesn't hurt my feelings.

Now go hide in the corner little fanboy.
