A program’s level of power should be judged by what it has been able to accomplish under various coaches. UM is a monster because it won/should have won NCs under 5 different HCs over the course of 20 years. A couple of those coaches were far from transcendent coaches, who never accomplished anything elsewhere close to what they were able to accomplish at UM.
UF, on the other hand, needed two transcendent HCs to accomplish anything in their history. How many Urbs or Spermier in his prime are out there? Every time that UF job opens up they shoot for the moon and wind up settling on guys like Zook and McEltooth.
Fck UF and any UM fan trying to pimp that place as special.
Yep. Spot on.
It's a good job at UF, because there is financial support for the program, bendable academic requirements because it's a state school, and they are in the best state in the USA for recruiting. But is it a great job? No. The fan base is no less delusional than any other program that thinks their ***** is rose water, and this gives the admin an itchy trigger finger.
Is it a great job because they have great facilities? Guess what, so does everyone. (including UM now)
Is it great because they play in the SEC? Not really. It's a nightmare of corruption and you will never keep up with the guys who are simply better at cheating than you are.
Are they great because they fill the stadium? Bullsh*t.
Oklahoma State fills the stadium, but how would you like to spend your life in Stillwater? Fondle my low hanging nad sack on that one. It can't be a good job if your quality of life sucks. Would you take the job as CEO of Apple if you had to do it from a North Korean Prison? Don't think so. Living in Gainesville isn't much better.
The problem with the lizards is that instead of recognizing they have a "good" job to offer, and building around that, they pretend they have a "great" job to offer and it sends them sideways. It's how you end up hiring a guy like the sharkbanger, and then firing him after 3 years when he embarrasses himself (and you), only to end up with randy "where are my meds?" shannon at the interim helm.
Which is all fine by me, as the more pathetic they become, the happier I am.
