FSU Shocker

These kids should get special breaks. I am against paying college kids but in terms of academic support they should get everything they need. Extra time to complete work, retake exams, extra credit assignments, etc. The schedules that these kids need to follow are ridiculous and then they are asked to compete against a typical student in the classroom...almost impossible

No. Student-Athlete. Student first athlete second.

I went to FSU. I had friends who majored in hospitality. They were high and drunk 23 hrs a day and they exerted minimal effort or intelligence to pass these classes. I understand that CFB is a busniess and these kids shouldnt be expected to do calculus but, this major is bs and these kids should be able to put together something passable.

Personally I think there should be a professional athletics major and the classes should focus on teaching these kids how to be a professional athlete. Things like tax and criminal laws, rudimentary money management, social standards and compliance, charity work, etc.

It takes a special breed to fail the classes these guys take. Nobody is asking them to "compete" academically with the top students but 90% of these guys are never gonna make it in the league and are going to need something outside of football. Most of the guys who do make it can't manage a budget of a measly few million a year without going bankrupt. Fvck outta here with those excuses.

Yep. There is big money in professional sports, and not just playing them. All the things you listed would give these young people a better chance at succeeding in life after sports. After participating in them, at least. Wealth management should be #1 .

lol man the tears if they lost the championship that year due to playing ineligible players. You'd think the Everglades started in the panhandle.

I am sure there are plenty of kids out there who have to get a job to pay for the tuition, books, supplies, room, board, and food that these guys get for free. Probably put more hours into those job(s) than these kids need to put into practice. They are already getting special breaks.

Most of the players probably will not even make it into the league. The ones that do only a few are going to stay long enough and make enough to not need to get a regular job after. Such degrees seem like they would just put the vast majority at a disadvantage for giving them a chance to make an actual living with the rest of the work force.

They do get all that, and then some. They are even given an athlete only dining facility and nutritionist who tells them what they should be eating. Most of the stuff is given to them so they don't have to think about the other details and can focus on football or the other sport they are in. Tutors are available to them, most professors as long as you talk to them at the beginning of the term will assist you as long as you don't wait until the last minute. These athletes aren't just given a pat on the back and told good luck champ, they are given everything above a normal student to be successful. A little initiative and effort on their part is needed as well though.

Just another reason, in a long line of reasons, to hate that top-to-bottom corrupt institution.

Everyone there from the school president on down, knows what's going on with these FSU "student" athletes, just note the most recent example with MT6, obvious grade manipulation and cheating, they all know it, they don't care if anybody else knows it because they know nothing will happen, and they're good with that.

yeah, no. athletes here, from football to rowing, get better academic support than any other students in the university by a country mile. we can't give them exclusive extra credit assignments or exam retakes because that violates the academic integrity of the course [insert academic integrity joke here]. they are the only students on campus with regular access to excused absences for travel and get concessions on due dates for it. the only way to get more than that is to have a verified learning disability that is communicated to professors.

and this is why our firm would NEVER even interview an FSU graduate for a position. The place is a joke. They should move to the SEC and take their place along with the other sloths.

At most FBS institutions, the major sport athletes get special assistance.

This is just a cultural thing. The difference between being asked to do a little work to make grade, or no work at all. FSU, and a handful of other schools, seem deadset on making a complete mockery of the system, and should be punished for it.

FSU actually uses the whole 'hey, come to FSU, we'll 'take care' of you' angle to recruit, which is an absolute joke. As much as college football has become a big business, lorded over by programs like Ohio St and Alabama, it's the programs like FSU and UNC that to me are the biggest black eye. We know that athletes get special treatment, but, god****, they should at least do the bare minimum academically, or they should fail like any other student would.

It took one post for one of the multitude of FSU cucks on here to inhale that flaming meat spear and white knight for those cvnts.
