FSU May Fire Willie - But I Hope

Wow. This man can actually post the Wins/Losses for Butch while he was here at UM!

Now. Factor in NCAA sanctions,

factor in the loss of personnel due to no bowl games,

factor in the SI front cover that UM should shut down football,

factor in the negative recruiting tactics during those first years - none of which was his fault -

and since you're such a genius with numbers - why don't you factor in 31 scholarship reductions and how that may have affected the Win/Loss record you so wonderfully posted?

I really wish at times I could be so simple-minded. Paste something, unaware of anything other than that post - and go through life dumb, happy, and unaware. It's got to be nice at times.

Like a dog - doesn't know or care about anything - as long as he's fed and watered.

I love that you try to insult anyone who has a differing opinion than you, yet you're out hunting for bigfoot. Please point me to a game where he out coached another team (besides beating up on Shannon)? Tell me why he had all that talent and lost to an ok Washington team? Tell me why the football world wasn't beating his door down for his services? Dude has a losing record against East Carolina, for ***** sake.

Again I'm not a Butch hater but you slurpers only want to talk about first round draft picks, sanctions, 31 scholarships etc... If you would pull your head out of that sasquatch trap and debate game day and on field performance we got nothing to talk about.

With your logic we'll have the most talented teams and still get MR results.

Would love to see Richts Game Day coaching minus 31 Schollies....No TV or Bowl for a yr...it's atrocious as is....

You have absolutely no F-ing idea what jobs Butch was offered....you'd be surprised....but keep regurgitating the same ole BS that people who know nothing about the topic keep spewing...

The loss to Washington....Wasn't Butchs fault Portis fumbled....You act like UW was Pitt....They had a legitimate gripe not being Top 2....FOH with that BS.....

We have no idea, but he takes the FIU job. Sounds like what was offered wasn’t all that great if FIU is where he ultimately ended up.

Imagine Butch as HC....Dorsey as OC...
(Butchs current OC)...An excellent DC...and a REAL STs coach.....alot better than some of the current staff....

By the time FSU pulls the plug on Taggart Butch is going to be old as ****, he isn't going there.

LoL...You think Diaz would be Blitzing uncontrollably..leaving the middle of the field wide open under Butch??...
You think STs would be disastrous in yr 3??...You think RBs and DLmen wouldn't flourish under Butch??
There WOULD be Gap Integrity....And Butch would simplify the Defense...some stunts..and disguised blitzes....not the madness you see today...

Most people can't get the impact of what was going on after Erickson left. No one would take the job..... Butch was the fifth candidate they brought in. SI which had so much clout in CFB declared us dead. The 31 scholarships was just the beginning. We self imposed 5 before the NCAA got done.
Along with the loss of scholarships, no star athletes would even consider stepping on campus soon after Le Ba5tard sold out his school and players who trusted him, for some cheap journalism award.
Loss of scholarships, no star recruits even considering us from 1995 to 1998, the media rooting for the death penalty, it is a miracle we are not in Div II today.
What Butch did was a miracle...

There were some dark days, but don’t exaggerate. We were and many times still are the bad guys of college football. The media always blows it out of proportion. Just like with the Shapiro mess again. That turned out to be boats and hoes. A slow weekend here. Miami will always be relevant because there are too many athletes here willing to stay home to keep us in the conversation. As bad as Al Golden was and how hard he tried to drive this program into the ground, it took him 4.5 years and a school president so desperate for him to remake us into he image of Penn State before Sandusky that she willfully ignored everything about how atrocious Golden was.

Gotta love the daily Butch love fest. "The greatest recruiter...ever!" "Never before or never again will football at any level see a talent evaluator like Butch" "Had he stayed he would have won 10 National Championships!" "Butch, Jimmie, and Howard were the greatest UM coaches ever!"

Not wanting to put a fly in the ointment, not wanting to put a stick in the wheels, not wanting to break up the party, but...

Many of the self-anointed football experts who litter this board on a daily basis despised Butch with a passion and wanted him fired having gone so far as to hire banner planes dragging "Fire Butch Davis signage" over the Orange Bowl, not to mention the booing and catcalls during games. Yet, today, they would do anything to have the 'Emperor of Butch Land' return...that is up until he lost a few games then the howls to get rid of him would be deafening, claiming he has always been a train wreck of a game day coach, was highly overrated as a recruiter, and screwed us over when he betrayed the "U" and signed with Cleveland.
