We had this discussion on the show with @k9cane, and I thought it made sense to post it here.

I think the 2019 LSU team is becoming overrated. They had the best QB/WR trio ever, but they weren't as physical as true all-time teams and they lacked old NFL talent on defense. Their best defensive player was a freshman Derek Stingley, and he'd be sitting on the bench next to a freshman Sean Taylor and Antrel Rolle on the '01 team.

I don't think the '01 comparison is even worth discussing, but here's a closer one: Is FSU 2013 better than 2019 LSU? I think FSU is the better and more complete team.

Not this week @DMoney not this week...any other week...not this one

2019 LSU DL wasn’t very good. But their LBs and DBs were. Queen, Stingly, and Chaisson all went first round. Delpit and Fulton went 2nd round.

But the offense stole the show. Burrow passed over 5500 yards, both Jefferson and Chase were over 1K yards and combined for close to 40 TDs, and CEH rushed for over 1400.

2013 FSU aint beating 2019 LSU

LSU survived Texas, Florida, Auburn and I'd even say Bama(they put themselves in a big hole and then just ran out of time) that year.

FSU only had to comeback against Auburn in the NC.

2019 LSU by 2 TD's

LSU was a machine by the end of that year

They were dismantling teams that were much better than anyone FSU faced. Strength of Schedule wasn't close.

LSU's passing offense was the best I've ever seen and I've been watching football since 1968, and they had Edwards-Helaire rush for more than 1,400 yards. Defensively, they weren't that good, 32nd in the country in scoring defense, but like Penn State's offense in 1994, you got the sense that they would outscore their opponent no matter what. Plus, they beat seven top-10 teams.

F$U’s RB room was pretty good that year though. LSU would have had problems.
Which makes the hypothetical game a bit tougher for me to call but LSU would be favored.

In terms of talent yes. You have to take coaching and chemistry into account though. They had Joe Brady who could outscheme anyone with Burrow and that sick trio of weapons on O. Maybe you switch coaching staffs and FSU is better, but that LSU team is putting up 40 on anyone (besides our 01 Canes).

'19 LSU. Burrow to Chase had gotten laughable by the end of the year. They made a good NFL corner look like like a Tim

FSU's 2013 RB's were legit! Devonta Freeman, Karlos Williams, James Wilder

But here's LSU's last 3 games of 2019 and the NFL talent they went against:

Beat #4 Georgia by 27 - D'Andre Swift + George Pickens
Beat #7 Oklahoma by 35 - Jalen Hurts + CeeDee Lamb
Beat #2 Clemson by 17 - Trevor Lawrence + Tee Higgins + Travis Etienne

Burrow averaged 435 yds + 5 TD's in those 3 games

No - 2013 FSU barely beat an Auburn team with a DB playing QB.
