Enos last stand. You would like to go down in a blaze of glory but in this case Dan Enos went out with a dud. The Hurricanes were shut out 14-0 vs Louisiana Tech. With Miami's embarrassing loss to a non power five school (The second in three games) improved it's record to 0-5 coming of either bye weeks and or opening/bowl games. I understand no one wants to relive this game or this year for that matter, but FTP must go on. (Not really but it is still dramatic when you say it that way) Here are some random thoughts from the game.
Thank you so much for this year. The feedback, both good and bad, was welcomed and you guys always kept me on my toes. D$ on a phone call once told me "Ro, you have a very smooth and soulful voice, you should take your From the Perch series and make it a video format, I think people would love that." If you did? Thank you. It was a monumental undertaking for me throughout the year and I tried to represent you guys and this site the best I could. Hope you had fun with it. -Ro
- Systems can win you championships
- The Enos System got him fired
- Miami was unwavering in its pursuit of the long developing play action pass game
- The LT defense was not fooled at any juncture vs. the play action game
- Miami was "bumping the glass" (A term taught to me to tip off offensive line play action blocking where they don't break through the line of scrimmage they run parallel with it) and the defense keyed it well
- This offensive line is a complete disaster vs the blitz and act like they have NEVER seen a stunt or a twist before
- It is unequivocally hard pressed to say that Butch Barry's unit improved (They finished the year 128th in sacks allowed)
- At one point Mike Harley was used a play side run blocker close to the line of scrimmage (I don't necessarily get the point of that personnel utilization to be honest)
- Jarren was mechanically flawed at points
- Jarren left plays on the field
- Jarren's accuracy seemed to dip when defense's decided consequently to take away the middle of the field
- Jarren's interception came in the middle of the field
- Some quick pop permeter plays worked with some success but were not exploited like they should have been
- Enos did not really show anything brand new this game (one wrinkle should have been a TD but I think Williams played like he wanted Enos fired)
- Tate's first play showed you what designed quarterback runs moving forward can do
- Tate played quarterback like he was on a roller coaster with no seat belt
- Kosi threw probably the most errant pick of the year (seemed like they had a week 1 communication breakdown between him and the WR)
- Enos was very multiple in formation, a staple he used all year, but in the end it was nothing but the same Sh*t
- If Manny doesn't see the writing on the wall to adapt a more spread and uptempo audible friendly offense he can go into the portal and not return for all I am concerned.
- The offensive line isn't capable of running any system remotely close to what Enos was asking them to do
