From Quality Inn, my thoughts on the SMU loss..

You can't convince me the offensive players enjoy this system and have fun playing in it...
I'm not sure I've seen our players consistently having fun since 2003. The last half of 2016 they were getting it rolling, I think that's the closest

The thing about explosives is when we try to do so it seems like we don’t have the personnel to be explosive…other then the TD to trader I can’t remember many explosive plays.. CJ Daniels is a huge factor in this offense Beck seems to trust him more then he does anyone other then Malachi Toney.
Wonder what might happen if trader and mali were on the field together longer than on quarter….

Mario sat his best receiver out of fall camp for half the season, and this is the result. I don’t care if trader murdered a nun, he shouldn’t have been out half the season.

Mario is a **** head coach, and we’re stuck with him.

What about your boy Captain efficient?

You ready to admit he ain't the guy or you not there yet?
Sadly, I was wrong on him. The things I’m seeing from him, I never saw on his 2023 film. I will say that I don’t think the play calling is doing him any favors, but I was wrong on him. But if you think, I’m going to take back my issues with Cam, holding onto the ball too long and never taking the check down last year, that isn’t going to happen. But as far as Beck goes, I was wrong on him. Honestly, there’s a whole bunch of issues with this program right now and Mario is at the top and he’s the one that has to answer for it. Penalties and offensive game plan first and foremost.

He beat 3 of our biggest rivals (ND, FSU, and Florida) and chokes against inferior teams. That’s a punchers chance because beating inferior teams is fixable. Normally, coaches struggle against the big boys.

I see you’re in your feelings and not liking my takes on the subject but the reality is the big $ NIL support is all in on Mario. They brought Mario! They are here BECAUSE of Mario. Should Mario fail, Miami will more than likely return to being broke and losing these kids to SEC again. Good luck with that strategy…
I always tell ppl that Head Coaches who don’t scheme or aren’t strong at Xs n Os need high level QB qb play along with their talent to really make a run. Carson Beck is literally losing us games smh

- I dont know who Miami's next QB will be but I'd like a real dual threat with some twitch and athleticism. The way Miami plays offense it's like you need a guy who can bail you out with a big scramble here and there, and be a consistent threat at the mesh point.
I feel like this has been a severely underrated part of our offensive struggles.

Ward wasn't much of a threat to tuck it and run, but he was dangerous enough with his legs and maybe I am just wishcasting but I seem to remember plenty of times last year when he pulled the ball back from the RB and hit a quick slant instead.

Beck is just alright but while the playcalling isn't doing him any favors, part of the reason the defense is so quick to recognize the play is because they don't really have to worry about Beck pulling it and running with it.

We run these choose your own adventure plays and the adventure always ends up the back of the OLs' ***.

off the top of my head, it just felt like the RPO game in general, was much more effective with Ward, who was a magician at getting the ball out at different angles very quickly

im not in my feelings at all as i called this happening AT the hire.

Im just not going off the "leverage" they must of sold you cause im born and raised in Miami.

We were winning when Nevin Shapiro was our big money guy giving out miso soup at Benihanas and paying for abortions.

Um isnt gonna disappear if therm columbus dudes leave.
You’re flat out wrong. This isn’t 2002. Nobody sold me on anything, it’s common sense. You need the $ in 2025 and beyond in order to recruit elite blue chippers. If the $ isn’t there then it’s back to Manny Diaz days. You think Texas Tech is getting all those kids because of their staff? Lol Those days are over! Like I said, we need this to work.

Btw, you’re giving that clown way too much credit. We were winning because Butch brought those kids here. He had nothing to do with them being here. He just brought their friendship after they won.

OK, so Im back at my room at Quality Inn -- which isn't the highest quality, but not the lowest quality place I've ever stayed at. It's actually decent quality for what I need this weekend (a place to be keep my stuff inside and take a shower). Im sure by now you've heard every opinion/statement on Miami's loss to SMU. Since some of you asked, you shall receive...

- Forget the loss today, it goes beyond that. There are deeper seeded problems with this program and Cristobal. I'll say this again, the way he approaches football(pace, tempo spacing and game management) lends itself to Miami being in closer games than they should regardless of the talent advantage. It's no coincidence.

It's why UM has lost four ACC games since last November as a double-digit favorite. That's telling. Ask yourself this you don't think Rhett Lashlee wouldn't trade rosters with Cristobal?

I'll say this again, as a superior team with more athletes, you want to EXTEND the game not shorten it. You WANT more plays, not less. Miami plays offense at times like it's not allowed to hit big plays but has to play one first down at a time. Today, SMU didn't move the ball consistently, but they set up shot plays.

Mario is good at many things, he has actually moved this program forward in many aspects. But will he recruit well enough to overcome his own defiencies as a game day coach. Today was one of the worst performances I have ever seen on the sideline. From taking timeouts just as plays were moving on, and then insisting on being physical instead of productive offensively

We have Olivia Newton John as our coach -- he wants to get FYZYCAL!!'

Personally, Id like to score a lot more points early and THEN be that later in games. Sometimes I wonder if Cristobal believes all games are meant to be won 24-21. I don't believe Miami is getting rid of Mario any time soon. It is what it is. My question is can be evolve or just play the CEO role with elite coordinators in place?

- the officiating was mind-boggling at times. But again, that's why you try and blow teams out so that a few calls don't impact you that much

- this years O-line is severely overrated. Too many short yardage situations where they dont get push and waaaay too many penalties. Ive never seen a unit with so many pre-snap infractions

- Jojo Trader flashed. But his bobble-turned-INT turned the momentum. That play and the offensive PI on the Alex Bauman catch deep in SMU territory were big

- I dont know who Miami's next QB will be but I'd like a real dual threat with some twitch and athleticism. The way Miami plays offense it's like you need a guy who can bail you out with a big scramble here and there, and be a consistent threat at the mesh point.

- Finally here's what stood out to me at the game. As I was sitting in the 221 section of Ford Stadium, I looked around and the Miami fans were bored to death in the middle of this game. Miami simply isn't a very entertaining and exciting team. It's a reflection of the coaching philosophy at play. As Im seeing the other scores, it dawned on me that I was missing out on a lot of other good games.

After today, Mario has lost the fan base. Perhaps he can get it back. But this is now 6 losses as a double-digit favorite for Cristobal as the head coach at Miami. That speaks for itself.
The gloves are coming off across college football now.

These insults are uncalled for. 🤣

@Hurracanes has always been quite critical of Mario the football coach.

I like both of you as posters, so I wanted to step in.

And, like it or not, the program absolutely needs the money.

I give Mario his flowers and criticism when it’s deserved. I try my best to be fair. However, if folks think the $ will be there should this fail with Mario then I can’t help you. They are all in on Mario. Pray this **** works.

I'm taking the same approach.

under Mario it's a boring program

occasionally hold on by the skin of their teeth for a big win.

then lose at least twice a year to teams we have MUCH more talent than.

how is that possible?!?

I think the entire program for the next 5 years literally hinges on us hitting a home run portal QB this January. Zero sarcasm there. The qb will determine if we have any explosive ability next yr. The qb will determine if Mario is allowed to be a conservative ***** still. The qb needs to be a playmaker that even Mario cant **** up and take the ball out of his hands with. He needs to ALWAYS be a threat so that defenses don’t sell out to stop the run.
Everything hinges on QB in the portal next year. We just need to hope Mario identifies the correct guy and lands him. … but he can’t let everything else go to **** either. He needs to get to 10 wins so he doesn’t lose the locker room.

You got it, my guy.
for sure you leaving when mario leaves too?.

If not we gonna be right here together talking sh*t together lol

No personal feelings....i dont care about the current money men, you and some guys do as you guys think thats the only way we win....im telling you thats the only way MARIO can win because he needs a talent advantage of 4x who he is facing...a competent coach here wins recruiting top 15 classes just like we always have...we just never have competent coaches more than two szns at a time int he last 20 years
