(From Gaby) Meet Miami's 2026 DL

I’m not sure you want that for Wilson. He seems ok in that 250-255 range. He needs to retain that first step and explosion. What I hope we really see is Taylor help him develop the hands and dip we got to see from Mesidor. The better foot placement around the bend. If he does that, with Lightfoot rushing from basically everywhere, our defense will get off the field more. It’d change the entire dynamic of our games way more than if he adds a 10 pounds to play the run better.
This is a great point. I was watching some film of Wilson and he definitely will improve his hands/2nd move with Taylor. Mesidor's pass rush this year was 10X better than in 24'. As long as he puts in all the work like Bain and Mesidor the sky is the limit. Blount at Edge on run downs is also a must. He has the strength/burst to hold up.

I really liked Blount for that SDE role with a hybrid angle at DT role on some downs, but I’m going to go with D$’s closeness to the team and, FOR NoW, accept Blount supposedly wants to be a full time DT. If that’s the case, need something different with the base front, I think.

Lowe can be that guy but I too want to see Blount at SDE on early downs. Rich man’s problems.

It would be interesting to see if we close on Keona Davis. He has length and size to hold the edge on run downs. Also able to move inside on pass downs if needed.

Feel like im going crazy lol..why tf would blount want to be a dt?

I do think its a good sign he got on the field regardless and im thinking maybe dt was the only way for that to happen for him this year because of bain/mesi snap count? Besides that i cant comprehend why he wouldn’t be an edge for us

idk man I can't imagine Blount WANTS to be DT. I imagine he was just expecting to be needed there more... But

Idk how anyone could look at our Roster and the build of our players and not immediately say Blount and Lowe are the SDE's with Damon Wilson and Ligthfoot the WDEs.

We should all expect Damon Wilson and Lightfoot to be the best pure pass rushers on the team next year. I absolutely think Blount should/can still move inside to DT often when we have Lightfoot on the field. And just in general I think Lightfoot should be on the field more this year of course. And Lowe I fully expect to be a beast. We are going to rotate a **** load more than we did this season. And that'll be good for all the young guys' developement.

But idc what anyone has been saying about Blount primarily being DT next year, after we landed Carter and Davis that plan needs to be out the window. SDE was the bigger issue entering this portal, and Wilson doesn't REALLY fully change that. Blount NEEDs to be SDE with Lowe primarily. Scroggins will be the primary 3rd Edge as needed. And Asharri Charles will be competing with Pickett (and McConathy) for 4th man up.

I’m not disagreeing with you about how it looks from the outside. I’m on the outside with you. On this one, I’m deferring to someone who watches practices and speaks with coaches, players, and their families. We’ll see how it shakes out.
