(From Gaby) Meet Miami's 2026 DL

Blount did a great job filling in at DT, and the Nebraska kid would be a good depth piece, with that being said I think it would be a disservice to put them in the middle if they aren’t 285-290lb. Can they add weight and develop, yes, but if Blount is set on playing DE making him 280+ is a waste. I put emphasis on development, so if the staff thinks the Nebraska kid play at 290 then I’m all for it.

Good times…the football Gods are finally smiling on us. Great players, great coaches, great trajectory in wins, not to forget the great support fan/community-wise and financially.

I thought Blount wanted to play DT?

FWIW, I think he plays both spots.

None of us know what he wants to play or what the staff has plan for him. There’a also nothing wrong with him sliding in on passing downs, Bain did it and Mesidor did it. But he should not be the 4th DT again this season unless he gains some more weight or injuries happen. They need another true 4th DT, 290+, if that is Davis and/or Blount cool, but both still need some development.

You’re not knocking that technique/philosophy are you? I mean it does yield “results.”
Personally, I prefer hitting on the fat friend of the one I really want. Jealousy usually kicks in and “el switcheroo” happens magically.

I’m speaking solely about when I was single. Just in case Mrs. BigDik is on this board.
**** no. I see it work all the time. This man is a menace. He's like all you need is one. And yeah I do that same thing you do sometimes. Send the hot one to tell the fat one I like her, buy her a couple drinks. But then again, I also actually be liking the fat one too. Im very liberal with chicks. I have no prerequisites. Its situational football 😂😂😂😂

Honestly, I still think Blount should primarily be EDGE for us taking over for Bains position. He should still play DT a lot more than Bain and be used as a way to get Wilson+Lightfoot on field together and be the Main 3rd DT in rotation... But imo he should be the SDE. And Wilson imo is a pretty clear Mesidor replacement.

Standard Downs:
SDE: Armondo Blount / Hayden Lowe / Herbert Scroggins / Cole McConathy
DT: Ahmad Moten / Jarquez Carter / Keshawn Stancil or Mykah Newton
DT: Justin Scott / Blount / Keona Davis / REST OF FROSH DTs
WDE: Damon Wilson & Marquise Lightfoot / Asharri Charles or Booker Pickett / DeAnthony Lafayette

Rush Downs:
SDE: Damon Wilson / Hayden Lowe / Asharri Charles or Herbert Scroggins /
DT: Armondo Blount / Hayden Lowe or Herbert Scroggins / Cole McConathy
DT: Scott & Moten / Keona Davis or Jarquez Carter /
WDE: Marquise Lightfoot / Booker Pickett

And obviously The Main 3 EDGEs imo should be Wilson, Lightfoot, and Blount. And Lowe the 4th, with possibility of being essentially starter. All 4 will get MUCH heavier rotation than last year imo.

I seriously need an explanation why blount would not be in Bain spot at DE

Also Pickett what’s the word with Pickett, he played early and looked better than lightfoot as a pass rusher as freshmen

Bain played at like 275, Mesidor at 265. I def see Blount playing at 275, can Wilson potentially get to 260 and play at that weight? I know weight isn’t everything and it can potentially slow him down, but at 260 he will probably improve his run defense significantly.

I’m not sure you want that for Wilson. He seems ok in that 250-255 range. He needs to retain that first step and explosion. What I hope we really see is Taylor help him develop the hands and dip we got to see from Mesidor. The better foot placement around the bend. If he does that, with Lightfoot rushing from basically everywhere, our defense will get off the field more. It’d change the entire dynamic of our games way more than if he adds a 10 pounds to play the run better.
