Free $$$ Whipple's team covers....again. 2016 Edition.

Whipple didnt force JH to go long, almost every passing play will have someone go long. JH chose to always go long into double/triple coverage. An interception is almost always on the QB or WR. Most passing plays have 4 people to pass to, plus there is throwing the ball out of bounds or run it.

So you're giving a pass to Mark D'Onofrio for all of the defensive mistakes? Or is a coach expected to correct the mistakes of his players? Which way are we going on this one?

Pretty sure Whipple won 2 NCs the last time he coached UMass, so I'm not surprised he's better than the loser Folden.

And he got a raw deal here as a scapegoat for Shannon. He was trying to coordinate a completely uncoordinated mess of a program. Not many coordinators have succeeded under horrible head corches on their way out.

Funny how Whip has been successful every single stop on his career path but dumb fvcks here still think he sucks.

Dumb fvcks.

Good enough for NFL teams to keep hiring. Good enough to win NCs as a HC. Responsible for Shannon failing. Makes sense.

Mark Coker won the national championship in his first year at UMass. In his fourth year they were 3-8. In years 3 through 6 (his last) at UMass he never won a post-season game. Let's not erect that statue just yet.

It's certainly true that Whipple's offense needs a quarterback with a better downfield arm than Jacory Harris. He was overly stubborn in that regard. I don't care. I don't believe in the conventional wisdom garbage of adapting your schemes to fit your personnel. Do what you believe in and take what you want.

This view is quite shocking. You don't believe in adapting schemes to personnel??? So even though Jacory was not capable of making downfield throws, do it anyway, interceptions be damned??? Makes zero sense and is a recipe for losing many games.

A mark of a good coach is one that can tailor their schemes to the available personnel. One that doesn't try to fit a square peg through a round hole.

Man, when Shannon hired Whipple, I truly thought that was the missing piece. I enjoyed that offense, he didn't give a shlt what your defense was doing...he had routes everywhere and had Glue Hands Johnson working.

That final drive to beat wake on Halloween was pretty killer and that FSU game was **** good (minus a Jacory lapse here and there)..Gave the dudes the green light at OSU. Man, did that shlt backfire :( edit: not necassaraly the OSU game...Just overall.

Never quite understood how and why he was made such a scapegoat here. Maybe Jacory Harris was just a coach killer?

Fisch > Whipple > a used condom > Coley

UMASS offense sucks.

I know this thread was suppose to support the opposite, but they are 117th in the nation.

That can't be the case considering he played good his senior year... Actually he had strong seasons every year except for his junior year... He wasn't a coach killer... Maybe Whipple wasn't that good at the moment...

Watch em play. They look better than us.

And they kick our *** on 3rd down.

SMDH. Please, do tell, what did you see in their 200 yard performance that looked better than us?

Apparently, it was whatever the other guy saw in Jake Heaps 16 yard passing performance against Oklahoma (you can't make this **** up).
