Franklin Fired at PSU

I was listening to McShay's podcast today. He says that sources he has close to Indiana are telling him that Cignetti will not leave for the PSU job.

Whoever follows Franklin will not be given years to "rebuild" - the feeling is the structure, culture and talent is there.
It will certainly be curious to see how many guys hit the portal - it opens after the new coach hire is made. It also seems like a decent number of their 2026 commits are opening up their recruitments this week.
The structure, culture and talent is there... after you fired the coach that set it all up over the last decade?

I'm always baffled how these people get rich.

Saw something that CFB programs over the past several yrs have, collectively, spent $550m in dead $$ to buy out HCs.

I’m doing something incredibly wrong in my life; how can I be incompetent at what I’m paid to do & get chedda while on the job, but also get guac when I’m fired?
It's an amazing life hack....get paid millions to not do your job. I wish my company would pay me millions to not show up more.

Matt Ruhle fits in as a replacement. He is a PSU alumni.
Apparently he and the pedo st AD are really close and their families vacation together. Heard it on an podcast...I think it was Urban Myer that said it. Take it for what it's worth.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s Cignetti or bust for them. He’s the home run higher. Doesn’t mean he’ll ever win a championship but that’s who I think they believe is the guy that can bring them there.
Yeah, that’s what PSU wants a reemergence of PaJoe. A cantankerous old barnacle, that rambles around campus. That soothes their aches for the “ good old days” when “We Are” was meaningful. Maybe they can lobby for a presidential pardon for Sandusky and get the band back together. Just sayin’

That's all well and good as a wish list but they surely have a plan b. There's not many, if any, who think he will leave Indiana.

I have seen speculation they are also very interested in Marcus Freeman. Probably another guy who won't leave his current job.

I have also seen some mention of guys like Fran Brown and Pat Fitzgerald.

I think the AD may have a higher value on the appeal of the job than is actual fact right now...

If they pry away, somehow, Freeman from Notre Dame, then IMO, PSU becomes the next Dynasty.

I doubt that Freeman leaves ND.

No way in **** Pat Fitz is ever gets that job.

Fran Brown- **** that guy! 😂😂 I can’t wait to wax them when they come to Miami. He’s up there for me on the list of coaches that hate Miami (Narduzzi, Norvell, Holtz, etc.) of **** head coaches I want Miami to pound every time (No Pause).

The talent is there for what - 11 wins or 9 wins? It may not seem like much of a difference but in CFB, there's a big difference b/w 9 and 11 wins, imo. Top to bottom, I think they are generally a 9 win team on average. I think they'd be higher if they had a competent QB.

PSU recruits right around the 8-15 range and are close to ND and Michigan in terms of rankings. Compared to the rest of the B10, OSU and Oregon, are top 5 in terms of talent acquisition and then PSU/ND/Michigan are around the same.

PSU's biggest problem in terms of talent is that they haven't found a good QB in a loooong time.

Fran brown wouldn’t be a bad hire for them. He’s a Northeast guy and he can recruit.

In my view, the PSU job is somewhat similar to the Miami job before Mario came on board. A bit overrated and not as shiny from the inside as many on the outside perceive it to be.

PSU firing their head coach 6 games after he won 2 playoff games just to hire Syracuse's coach would be hilarious.
Surely the powers that be have someone in mind but it’s not as shiny a job as they may think it is.

What's PSU's recruiting ceiling? Right now they are in the 10-15 range. TBH, even with Fran Brown, they won't be much different, imo.

They have had some top 10 classes. I think they’re ceiling is a top 10 class. They are surrounded by good high school football up there in Pennsylvania.

What in the world does this post have to do with Cignetti?
It’s a reason WHY, the PSU fandom would welcome an old curmudgeon like Cignetti. No shade on his coaching ability, but the can be an oversized D**k, much like Paterno. They long for their glory years under JP. Hope I didn’t offend the Censorship Patrol.

I just feel like every name is conjecture, I think Rhule is the guy. It almost makes too much sense.
