There's no possible way Diaz's name was thrown around. I don't believe that for a second.

Seriously - it’s Iowa State! That program is historically awful! Ames is in the middle of nowhere, and Campbell won 11 games last year - one of those at our expense in the Pop-Tarts bowl.

I agree with Pate. Matt Campbell has done an amazing job at Iowa State. The program is a perpetual loser and he turned them into a winner at their level and their previous standards. He beat Lincoln Riley three times when Riley was at Oklahoma. Beat Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl when Mario was in Eugene. His ceiling at Iowa State is the consistency he’s had. Hard to recruit to Ames, Iowa yet he keeps winning a lot of games and has put a few players in the league.

He would be at the top of my list if I were Penn State. Make him say no.

James Franklin is an ELITE recruiter in the DMV and PA/NJ area. Makes me wonder if he wants to go back to UMD if Locksley finally gets fired. James Franklin was Maryland’s AHC/OC/QB coach before becoming an HC for the first time in his career at Vandy. I could see UA’s Kevin Plank and his bros emptying their pocket for Franklin.

Yep. Franklin was head coach in waiting at Maryland before taking the Vandy job. Plus MD has a stud freshman QB.

The last 2 would make sense but if it’s any of the first 8, Happy Valley would need to be on high alert for riots.

I guess I just don’t understand the fear here.

To me, Franklin is Mario but with a lower ceiling and maybe higher floor. I could see him getting fsu respectable (nothing more) but he feels like 3-4 losses a year in the sec at uf.

It's not that Franklin is a title threat to us, it's the pain the the a$$ when it comes to leaching recruits from us down here in South Florida. Propagandists for Trailerhassee will be able to say that the Seminoles have turned over a New Leaf. "Keep Climbing with a New HC" and all that Hot Trash. I can see kids we want from Central, STA and other schools buying into that.

Especially if Franklin is able to attract a hot hand at QB from the Portal.

They're 5-1 this season with wins over Cincinnati, Akron, Houston Christian, Michigan State and Maryland and a home loss to Michigan.

They have a solid, young QB, great running game & good WRs and a very solid defense.

They are definitely headed in the right direction.

There’s probably a number of coaches that can capitalize on some new hire excitement and do that at fsu though. At least with Franklin we’d know he’s not a title threat and they’d be content going 9-3 with us beating them most years.

Before Fran Brown was hired family in Syracuse told me that well-heeled boosters were calling the AD and university President begging them to hire Donnie MacPherson, who was the QB for Coach Mac back when Syracuse tied Auburn in the Sugar Bowl in '87. Nostalgia and keeping it in the family is a powerful drug. In PSU's case it's also heinous af.
