Franklin Fired at PSU

The guy I kind of feel sorry for is StatePenn's OC, who came over from Kansas. He had been doing well working for Liepold at the D3 school in Wisconsin, Buffalo and Kansas.

But I think he only would leave for Penn State being he’s from there. McShay implied as much on his recent pod as well. IU is a much more fun story tho so I hope he stays and tries to build something new there with Cubans money
 
On Cig… also a 10mil buyout would be owed to IU. Probably not a dealbreaker…. But they’re going to be well over 100 mil and possibly close to 150 committed on buyouts and new contracts for coaches if he’s their man

Listening to Josh Pate. He spent the first 20 minutes on Franklin's firing. He basically said it's a big mistake. Wonders who they think they will get that will be better.

Since they have to have a coach, Matt Campbell would be a good choice , in his opinion
 
I know absolutely nothing about the AD at PSU. But there’s gotta be close to a non zero % chance they didn’t get something lined up before this decision. I get getting ahead of some other schools, but this just screams they already have their guy. It also shows they probably saw what happened with UF and Napier. Napier did enough to save his job, and now he’s probably going to get canned a year later than he should.

If the plan was to can Franklin to end the year, say they catch lightning in a bottle and win out. Go 10-3. Yea not what they hoped for but you will have a much more difficult time firing him.

I doubt they hire Cig. Just not a smart move imo. IN seems willing to spend. He’s also having real success. Why leave? Rhule is their Mario. It almost makes too much sense.

It's so much worse than that though. Yes, he's temu James Franklin. But he was coached by the pedophile rapist Sandusky when he played LBer at PSU from '94-97. He was then a "Voluntary Assistant Coach" at PSU, while Sandusky was still there in '98 and raping young boys. Beyond the pale this football program, which shouldn't exist anymore, would try to hire Rhule. I truly hope this completely blows up in PSU's stupid, smug faces.

But no matter how much talent he has acquired, he still can’t win the championship. That fact is undeniable right there.

Josh Pate suggested Matt Campbell as the best candidate for the job, and he’s right. That’s why I want them to hire someone else.

Seriously - it’s Iowa State! That program is historically awful! Ames is in the middle of nowhere, and Campbell won 11 games last year - one of those at our expense in the Pop-Tarts bowl.

This is always an underrated part of this. I am sure he has some sort of offset language and the buyout doesn't get paid all at once. I wouldn't be shocked if there is offset language if he takes a TV gig too.

It makes the most sense to fire him now so Penn State can spend the rest of the season passing the hat to boosters and Franklin can maybe go get himself a new job if he wants it.
