Franklin Fired at PSU

StatePenn fan/boosters/students/alum: "What PR disaster?".
100%. I think you've nailed why they canned Franklin. They tried two non-JoePa guys, and now the PSU alums are over it and want a JoePa guy. Some doors should remain closed, but good luck with it PSU.

They stuck with that bum for four years. Maybe Franklin deserved to be fired no matter how good he is as a coach.
I happen to agree with you about the loyalty to Allar. But he did nothing to help Allar succeed: where is the WR help? Run heavy offense. New OC that has been rumored to not work well with Allar. He's not a running/scrambling QB. He took a 5 star HS guy and essentially neutered him.

And then he let the back up go, leaving little to no competition in that room. It was doomed.

Does UCLA have the $$$ and gonads to make a run for franklin? Or are they happy with Jerry Neuheisel as their next head coach :geek:🤣.. I kid, I kid.

I wonder if Al Golden will ever be successful as an HC at a P4 Program.

Yes, he succeeded at Temple, but that's not the same. He crashed and burned here. He wasn't even able to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear at this place.

I wonder if he's an Eternal Assistant, like Matt Patricia or (sotto voce) Brent Venables (JMHO) and should stay an Eternal Assistant.

Who knows, he may become PSU's version of Nick Saban.

But this I doubt.
Did he succeed at Temple?

I expect several dominos to start falling. FSU and UF are gonna be doing some serious pocket and soul searching.
Not too many coaches with franklins resume are gonna be available.
Not sure of Cigneti will even consider changing programs.

Uf and FSU are pressure cookers and recruiting is a whole different animal at programs that compete with the top nil players.

They added multiple transfer WRs for this season, including Pena, who was pretty highly touted.

Cigneti will leave Indiana like a shot

I agree. But I just don’t think he would for Florida or FSU.
But he doesn’t have another Mendoza next year and should strike when the iron is hot.

Either way neither school has fired anybody and the buyouts for both staffs and the repercussions of the portal make this a really bad time for them to do so.

FSU has no qb and recruiting class that sucks.
Uf likely had no idea this was gonna happen and would have to hope their recruiting class doesn’t fall apart and that their players don’t portal.
UF would see a massive exodus of skill players.

He would be walking into depleted rosters and fanbases that ain’t gonna appreciate a rebuild and questionable team cultures.

Brother...they put up big money for Trebor Pena.

He is a good football player. Devante Ross who had 1000/11 at Troy last year. Kyron Hudson from USC were also added

He had Tyler Warren.

He just stinks.

We've seen a few Drew Allar types down here, so I know it when I see it.
