Franklin Fired at PSU

This is not far-fetched.
His style of recruiting lends well to the northeast and nationally as well, not so much soFla which is a non-factor for StatePenn and he has apparently evolved from the bad defensive scheme he had at UM.
I can see him getting that job.
Firing Franklin to hire Golden is wild though. Basically the same guy except one is bald one has hair.

We're talking James "reader glasses" Franklin here my guy, not Luther Campbell.
I know that Indiana and Michigan both fought for the Union Army but Notre Dame and Michigan - the midnight navy of blue bloods - both employ brothas who deff have black air forces in their closets as HC.
I get racial prejudice is still very much a thing, especially in the south, but w/half of the SEC Illuminati having mixed grand kids and how desperate UF is, I can't see Franklin's "passing" melanin levels being the dealbreaker here.

ND and Michigan are not the SEC.

I don't know how old you are. But, I'd wager that you will not live to see the day that UF, Bama, Auburn, and Ole Miss hire black coaches.

I'm not talking about the why's. I'm just talking about what is.

That aside, UF will likely look for an offensive guy. Franklin isn't that.

Yes, except he is one of their own, and this means a lot for these folks who haven't entirely forgotten their lawd and savior, JoePa.
Yeah that's true. Hiring a guy who played when Sandusky coached there potentially Hindenburg level PR disaster though. Same goes for Rhule.

You're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine.

I wonder if Al Golden will ever be successful as an HC at a P4 Program.

Yes, he succeeded at Temple, but that's not the same. He crashed and burned here. He wasn't even able to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear at this place.

I wonder if he's an Eternal Assistant, like Matt Patricia or (sotto voce) Brent Venables (JMHO) and should stay an Eternal Assistant.

Who knows, he may become PSU's version of Nick Saban.

But this I doubt.

StatePenn fan/boosters/students/alum: "What PR disaster?".

I think 99percent of college football have gotten over potential PR disasters. You have coaches who oversaw practices where one of their players died; coaches turning blind eyes to players commiting sexual assaults; coaches using school funds to pay for *** and so on.

Of course, if this happened at Miami...
