They cross train guys all the time. Nothing to see here.Hmm....can't be encouraging for Carpenter. Doesn't have position on lockdown.

You got it big dawg. Don’t hurt me.No, you were dumb for bringing up something that absolutely nobody was thinking about or remembered.
I hope you are right bro. Carpenter just hasn't given the same vibe that Lee did. Cross training does help in case injuries pile up.They cross train guys all the time. Nothing to see here.
Good post but who is FG? Do you mean Francis Mauigoa?Posted this in another thread I should have put it here instead.
The issue with the center position is that it's probably as much, if not more, a cerebral position as it is a physical position. You take something as simple as the center/QB exchange for granted until it leads to a stupid pointless, game altering turnover. Snapping is very much a muscle memory thing and experience/reps are invaluable there.
That said, I have a feeling Carpenter isn't one of our "best 5", it's going to be very interesting to see what happens at LG, C, and RT during camp and the early part of the season. If FG or Rivers display the ability to play center consistently it could open the door to get guys like McCoy and Samson out there and improve the overall play of the unit.
It's easily the biggest thing I'm watching all summer. I feel good about the way everything else is trending with this team. I even think we're going to be pleasantly surprised by the secondary this year.
This is an interesting lineup next year that gives us a chance to return a starting 5 of returning guys. Rivers will leave regardless but whoever becomes our swing tackle between Okunlola or Bell can get the starting LT next year. Only thing to worry about is Anez Cooper declares early.LT Jalen Rivers 6-5 325
LG Matthew McCoy 6-6 320
C Francis Mauigoa 6-6 315
RG Anez Cooper 6-6 325
RT Samson Okunlola 6-6 300 or Markel Bell 6-9 340

He probably has a better future at IOL but this is precautionary in case of injuries. The coaches clearly feel more confident with depth at natural tackle, but Mui was promised the opportunity to play at T and he earned his starting spot last year and played well.Oh but I was dumb for saying Mauigoa playing in the inside would be best for UM line this year.
Same reason they wanted James Williams to move to LB. You can see it. i agreed that JWill should have stayed at safety but clearly if he played LB he would’ve made more of an impact. Same as Mauigoa.I will say it for the 100th time. Why tf is everyone in such a hurry to move a Freshman AA from RT? Let McCoy and Samson battle for LG and be done with it!
What vibe is he giving you?I hope you are right bro. Carpenter just hasn't given the same vibe that Lee did. Cross training does help in case injuries pile up.
there is nothing happening at C or RT lol. Carpenter is the starter and will be on 8/31. And he will start until he shows he isn’t good enough. Francis will start at RT because there is nobody better than him there. They already have McCoy working at LGPosted this in another thread I should have put it here instead.

JB is gone so no needHmm. Seems like Mario wants to run the Veer.
Jesus Christ man! Big Pause!Rivers said in his interview that they all practice at every position
(I like Mauigoa on the interior though a lot)
I would say the same thing to the chicas back in the day.Nothing wrong with experimenting so we have an idea in case injuries pile up.
JWill was never an AA. Mauigoa is a prototypical tackle, he is massive and runs like a deer. There is not a better player on this team to play RT. If you are right, we have the coaches who will put the best 5 at their best spot. My prediction is he starts at RTSame reason they wanted James Williams to move to LB. As a captain he shows up on my flight deck as my FO he isn't getting any legs and all the walk arounds the whole tripAs a Flight attendant, if I ever see Connor Lew as the FO or captain ima give him hella **** for flipping
You are stuck on this Freshman AA. lol. But I get it. Side note: There weren’t any other freshman who played as much as Mauigoa did as a freshman at the position. That’s the main reason he got FAA. Good thing is, he can play anywhere on the line. We definitely get the best out of OL with him at LG though.JWill was never an AA. I get your point, but FM held his own against some good DE as a true freshman. The guy can play. You are stuck on this Freshman AA. lol. But I get it.
