Francis #5 on Bruce Feldmans freak list

As much as we can all agree that Mauigoa is unreal, am I the only one feeling like a true freshman shouldn't be leading in strength categories?
On a macro level I would look at the rest of the strongest players on the team. If most of them are freshman, you could have a legitimate concern or you could say we must have much better talent evaluation then we did in years past. However, in this case they are comparing FM metrics with OL from the NFL combine. IMO this is more of an indication that FM has the potential to be a generational talent.

Never heard of tracking ‘jump power’ or ‘jump momentum’. Interesting.

Francis is a freak of nature.

I cannot wait to see him on the field.
I am guessing that it's related to these "force plates" that I've been hearing about for the past couple years. Still haven't had a chance to play with it yet though and find out more about it.

Assuming he isn't injured, Francis is going to be a top 5 NFL draft pick.
The kid that flipped from Iowa to Bama is a beast but it’s not an exaggeration to say we might have landed the two best OL in the country last year

Pretty wild

23 class is different

“I’m pretty sure I’ve never had a coach make a case for a guy quite like Mario Cristobal did for his five-star freshman offensive lineman: “Greatest muscle density in Miami history.”

The Canes have had their share of Freaks over the years, and Cristobal has been around some elite big people in his playing and coaching career. The 6-6, 341-pound Mauigoa only has 20.9 percent body fat and has 270 pounds of lean body mass. His agility for that size is even more remarkable. His 1.72 10-yard split would’ve been the second-fastest time recorded for all 300-plus pound offensive linemen at the 2023 NFL combine — and the only guy who ran faster, BYU’s Freeland, was just 39 pounds lighter. Mauigoa’s jump power registered at 9,274 watts — the highest Miami has on record. His “jump momentum” is 462 kilogram-meter per second (kg.m/s) — also the highest Miami has on record. He bench pressed 425 pounds and front squatted 500, which is tops on the team.”
Thanks. A 500 LB front squat is absolutely insane. Not sure exactly what our S&C coaches emphasize, but I'd imagine his rear squat would be high 600s/low 700s. Incredible athlete for sure.

Best to let that be a surprise down the line somewhere.
what if we gave him the jamie harper clemson offer of getting the first carry of the season in exchange for his commitment? (don't fumble like jamie harper did)

I'd prefer it to be a surprise against Clemson. Those ****ers always had a trick play.

Not a knock on FM, but that’s probably why he holds the records in those categories …. Not something measured for a long time, if at all.
You’re correct. I’ve heard it used and seen some studies where they try and correlate it to things like sprint speed, but it’s very new research

Interesting stuff though

It’s CIS so it’s a rite of passage to make ridiculous statements but this kid could be the first 2 way all conference player in the trenches. He would be a monster DT.
