Four-star EDGE Booker Pickett Jr commits to Miami

Dislike the idea of making LB his primary spot. Let him gain weight and play DE that can be asked to drop into coverage a few plays but his primary focus is to get to the QB.

If anyone is going to play Wesley's role, let it be Washington.

He's a tweener

I like the kid….But he's an undersized DE. 3-4 OLB. We play so many different type fronts I'm sure Guidry will make him work somehow. I am skeptical of his ability to switch to a full time LB.

Also, any idea what percentage of snaps we have 3 traditional on the field. I do see it sometimes…Is it 15-20%…Or less?

If it's not more than that…I would expect attrition then. I can't see us carrying 10 LB (or even 9 really) when we have only 2 on the field 80% of the time.

Kid is one of the most productive pass rushers in America, but yeah lets make him an off the ball LB which is something he has never done.
Tbf, this scenario truly does depend on height and weight.

If he's 6'2 185, idc how productive he is. He's not playing DE the way we require it (think Bain, Mesidor, Kelly, Wayne body types which are all 250+)

If he's 6'3 205 as reported elsewhere, hopefully he ain't like Moss and can gain weight. But he needs to reach at least 235. Otherwise, that's a pass rush specialist only.

How often do these DE to LB conversions workout?

At Miami? Never

If he doesn’t have the size/frame to eventually get snaps at edge, then he shouldn’t have been a take in the first place. JMO

I think Wes plays edge/olb in there bear front so im guessing that role he can garner.

I like his twitchiness as a take just has to utilize it...we need more edges that can run and bend now.
Convinced half this board doesn't actually watch games. Wes has lined up on the edge a ton this year because Guidry is multiple. So he stands up in an odd front and likely still stands up but in a 5 technique in an even front (because Guidry allows it).

****.
