Former player criticism of Offense

Did I say UVA has more talent? Their matchup from a defnesivibe verse our offense was definitely to their advantage though. There aren’t many games our offense is truly at an adavantage except games like FIU and Savannah St. that’s just where we are as a program right now offensively.
You’re right. They have recruited much better defensively than we have offensively. They’re loaded with 4 and 5 star talent on D, and we are stuck with nothing but 2 and 3 stars on O.

You continue to make great points.

We have below average QB’s there is only so many things you can do offensively. Not making excuses for Richt because he has to try something but look at what we are putting on the field.

QB- Rosier(probably wouldn’t start anywhere else in D1)
Kosi&Cade- no clue what their problems are
Williams-Freshman

RB-our most solid group but no elite NFL talent showing yet.

TE-Two true freshmen and that’s it. Polendy sucks.

WR- two upperclassman and one wouldn’t play many at many other D1 Schools w/Langham.
Cager solid but overall average, nothing special and wouldn’t start at 50% of other achools
JT4 elite- have to get him the ball
Harley- Average
Pope,Wiggins,Hightower, Ezzard, Njoku all freshmen

LT- St Louis serviceable but wouldnt start at 50% of other schools
LG- Jones is trash, Boulware is solid but wouldn’t start at 50% of other schools
C-Solid but that’s it
RG-Donaldson should start to excel back at nature position.
RT- Scaife true freshman.

I mean how can any of you look at that and expect us to be something amazing on offense?

Pretty much zero talent with upperclassman. Doubt any of them make the NFL besides possibley Homer.

Then you have 9-10 true freshmen and sophmore playing starter snaps basically.

I’m honestly not sure where to place the blame. Some on Golden and the previous staff for leaving nothing in the tank on offense besides Richards and Homer and Richards is now done. Richt has only recruited two real full classes coming off of the Golden era and probation. This thing is going to take time to turn around and that’s all there is to it. We see what upperclassmen leadership and NFL talent can do for a team...just look at our defense. Offense is a couple of years away...the worry for me is the defense going to be able to reload after this class leaves? Not sure I see it in recruiting yet.

All that being said and perhaps mostly true, the ACC Coastal is still trash, and even with that lineup we should run through every ACC opponent with exceptions being Clemson for obvious reasons, maybe NC St because they seem to have been looking really decent these last few years, and FSU because it's a heated rivalry every year.

Richt wants to be a coordinator and a CEO at the same time which is fine if you are capable, but he has shown that when his script breaks down, the O is done! Until he gets a legit OC who will at the very least come in and groom the young talent, we can expect UGA every year where we recruit well enough to be at the top 2 of the conference, a top 15 team, but always losing the games matter, and occasionally dropping the ones that further embarrass the brand with non-stop highlights on SC with opposing players doing that very very MOIST upside-down U ****!

UVA has far more talent. In fact, Bronco said before the season that he had maybe 27 at most ACC caliber players on his roster. I’m going to hate to see what happens when he has 60 or 65.

They will play the Browns/Jags/Cards in the 2019 NFL relegation game to see who moves up/down in leagues.

Maybe their 2 and 3 stars have had time to develope in a scheme over 3-4 years which I turn make them better than our brand new 4-5 star talents who have no QB to get them the ball. How are some of you so dense to realize this?

Im saying our coaches suck (they do) and you're making excuses why they don't suck. You sir, are the blind homer.

I said I’m not making excuses I’m saying we don’t have talent like some here like to believe and that mixed with marginal schemes leads to a putrid offenses.

Richt said there would be strong "evaluation" and potential changes over the bye -- whether they be "scheme, personnel," bla bla bla..

Since there's been no personnel (staff) changes that I'm aware of, over the bye...that must mean tonight is the night we bear witness to the schematic modifications that were made... looking forward to it...

<sarcastic grin>

That is not what he's saying at all. He gave an honest and objective assessment of what we've got to work with on offense.

Basically no QB. No OL. No experienced play makers. A bunch of extremely talented underclassman at the skill spots.

Richt is responsible for getting the offense going. It is all on him. He deserves the heat.

Can we stop with the we run a pro-style offense stuff. We absolutely do not. Absolutely do not. pro-style offense threatens and eat in the middle of the field, we throw almost exclusively outside the hash marks.

Let’s play game... name an upperclassmen that will get drafted in the next two drafts before the 4th rd.

I see 1!!!!!! 1 **** player and that is Homer.

Cager might slide in the 6th or 7th
Mahoney undrafted
Gauthier possibly 6th or 7th
St Louis might get drafted
Langham Undrftaed
Rosier undrafted
Boulware likely undrafted

JT4 will leave early and be our only top pick in the next two years.

Look at this **** we have right now. This offense is two years away.

They’re much less patient w this staff than the last.
track record is part of that. When was the last time we hired a coach who had marked success elsewhere? Like top level success? If this was shannon or golden, even with the positives last year we woulda hung him after the UVA loss.

I’m sure Richt and UM don’t care about message board criticism

But, living in the Midwest I listen to about 4/5 different weekly Canes podcasts throughout the week. And lately Kelvin Harris, Damione Lewis (who helps out at FIU) and Ryan Collins have all expressed frustrations and broken down how:
1. Predictable the playcalling is
2. The lack of creativity, motion, formation
3. The snapcount / clap bs
4. Underutilizing JT4

DLew had a really good analysis of our running game and blocking scheme and why he thought we had so much trouble getting push

So, as close as the “U Fam” network is, is this enough for Richt to finally take notice and either change himself or hire an OC?

If us average fans can predict what the play is with consistency I bet Ed Reed, Ray Lewis can with even more accuracy and I bet it drives them crazy.

whats the name of the podcast?

This is simply the truth. It also doesn't mean Richt is blameless.

It's amazing how great OL and DL play can turn an entire team into AAs or All-Pros.

Ever hear about Steve Young's amazing stats as a Buc? Do you think Tom Brady maintains his level of performance behind the Bills, Cards, or Texans lines?

Miami's return to D dominance just by accident coincided with a return of a long missing attackimg DL.

I suspect Miami's return to QBU/WRU/TEU/RBU will happen on the exact same day they field a top 5 OL unit.

Funny thing, those former players are not saying anything that is casual fans are saying, shameful on part of staff!!!

We have never had elite olines it has always been about our athletes. Speed and size, not just size. Everybody hypes up our line when we won it with Dorsey but truth is we just had studs, he never really held onto the ball, dropped back and let it go man, or hand it off. We had a stud at every position. We utilized them much more effectively. Kids were coached better but we were loaded. That line was better no doubt but it wasn't built with blue chippers other than McKinnie. Play to your strengths and hide your weaknesses best you can. That is what good coaching is. If we had an elite oline we might be unstoppable.
