Former player criticism of Offense

We don't need an elite oline, we need competent offensive coaches.

Miami needs elite OL play. Thats accomplished either 1) raw physical specimens who are just that good; or 2) coaching serviceable athletes into great/elite play.

Right now, Miami has neither for the OL unit.

If only Miami's OL played this good.

So if your QB is hampering your offense, wouldn't you adjust and call plays better suited for what he can. Richt tries to fit square peg into a round hole (or whatever the **** saying is) Both QBs have their issues but Richt does a horrible job of adapting the offense to who were are playing and getting guys involved early

I will agree with this, but what can we run with Rosier? What are his strengths? Legit question cause none of us our college football c she’s who have ever called a play. We all say Richt needs to change but what is he supposed to run differently? What if Rosier sucks so bad that there really isn’t much you can do? Is that a possibility?

Let’s play game... name an upperclassmen that will get drafted in the next two drafts before the 4th rd.

I see 1!!!!!! 1 **** player and that is Homer.

Cager might slide in the 6th or 7th
Mahoney undrafted
Gauthier possibly 6th or 7th
St Louis might get drafted
Langham Undrftaed
Rosier undrafted
Boulware likely undrafted

JT4 will leave early and be our only top pick in the next two years.

Look at this **** we have right now. This offense is two years away.

Talent isn't the issue, there are a plethora of teams that don't have a drop of NFL offensive talent, yet they have an offense that's more efficient than ours.

It's a coaching issue. Not a player issue.

That is Richt's job to figure out. He claims to give the team the best shot to win. He sees him everyday, he should know. The play calling has not changed whether it was Rosier, Perry, or Sherriffs. All very different QBs.

You’re right. They have recruited much better defensively than we have offensively. They’re loaded with 4 and 5 star talent on D, and we are stuck with nothing but 2 and 3 stars on O.

You continue to make great points.
Wrong! In the last 3 yrs Virginia had no 4* star athletes sign! All 2 and 3*! No better than ranked 58th in classes since Bronco became HC.... Nice try tho

This goes back to having veterans on your team. Will all the young guys be able to handle these changes everyone wants to see. You can’t just blowup the playbook and start new in the middle of the season. Brown mentioned some guys can’t even run the basics right now basically.

We have "below average QBs"?

Hmm.

We have to get to the bottom of who's responsible for this position group.

I'll take a stab at it and say it could be the Wreckeds.

GET IT DONE.

We have below average QB’s so there are only so many things you can do offensively. Not making excuses for Richt because he has to try something but look at what we are putting on the field.

QB- Rosier(probably wouldn’t start anywhere else in D1)
Kosi&Cade- no clue what their problems are
Williams-Freshman

RB-our most solid group but no elite NFL talent showing yet.

TE-Two true freshmen and that’s it. Polendy sucks.

WR- two upperclassman and one wouldn’t play many at many other D1 Schools w/Langham.
Cager solid but overall average, nothing special and wouldn’t start at 50% of other achools
JT4 elite- have to get him the ball
Harley- Average
Pope,Wiggins,Hightower, Ezzard, Njoku all freshmen

LT- St Louis serviceable but wouldnt start at 50% of other schools
LG- Jones is trash, Boulware is solid but wouldn’t start at 50% of other schools
C-Solid but that’s it
RG-Donaldson should start to excel back at nature position.
RT- Scaife true freshman.

I mean how can any of you look at that and expect us to be something amazing on offense?

Pretty much zero talent with upperclassman. Doubt any of them make the NFL besides possibley Homer.

Then you have 9-10 true freshmen and sophmore playing starter snaps basically.

I’m honestly not sure where to place the blame. Some on Golden and the previous staff for leaving nothing in the tank on offense besides Richards and Homer and Richards is now done. Richt has only recruited two real full classes coming off of the Golden era and probation. This thing is going to take time to turn around and that’s all there is to it. We see what upperclassmen leadership and NFL talent can do for a team...just look at our defense. Offense is a couple of years away...the worry for me is the defense going to be able to reload after this class leaves? Not sure I see it in recruiting yet.

These are the type post when you know somebody knows football. They keep blaming coach richt like he tookk over a championship roster. Alot of the problems now stem from the last moron regime's ineptitudes, and the schalorship reductions hindered young player development. Bust mostly its on the 3million dollar lawsuit moron regime. We got the #1 defense in the nation and people posting as if coach richt has nothing to do with. We got coach dugans, coach brown and hartley, 3 top notch coaches and recruiters and people crying. Coach searels has done a good job identifying o-line talent and getting them in here, so right now, i cant criticize him cause he has not to much to workk with out of all the coaches.

So to is post, blast from the past:

Wreckeds??? Rosier is a leftover and it looks like Richt missed bad on Perry and Weldon. That’s his fault. Williams can’t be judged yet. It’s amazing that everyone expected a miraculous turnaround right off the bat with us coming out of the dark ages of 15 years of mediocrity and probation.

I would say since the QB's are below average right now, that is the EXACT reason to get creative in offense, try to scheme open receivers and for God sake.... use some motion to give the young QB a better pre-snap read. I have been more patient than most not criticizing the staff much, but this stuff is just common sense to help the younger guys out.

Edit: Can I please get a Wildcat package for Deejay. I'm only asking for 6 snaps a game.

Former players been calling Richt's playcalling out waaaay back in his first season here. Warren Sapp said it was trash, as did Phillip Buchanon after the FSU loss (though he was a bit more tactful) than Sapp.

Who is making excuses. I’m calling it how I see it. Blame is on prior staff, current staff and players. The problem is all you just keeping saying it’s 100% on Richt. That is foolish.
Name a job where you are the boss and the **** doesn't end with you? Why we allow mediocrity at millions of dollars a year throughout sports is mind blowing.

Since you want to use business analogies, name the company that has plowed through CEOs every three years when those CEOs didn't dominate in market share. You know, since we don't tolerate mediocrity.
