Former Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich is stepping into another major role in college athletics.

According to reports, Radakovich has been hired as the new Executive Director of the FBS Athletic Director Association, an organization that represents athletic directors from every Football Bowl Subdivision school. The move keeps one of the sport’s most experienced administrators at the center of college athletics as the landscape continues to evolve today.



Radakovich spent three years at Miami, serving as the Hurricanes athletic director from 2021 to 2026. During his time in Coral Gables, he played a key role in hiring Mario Cristobal, helping launch a new era for the football program. He also oversaw major investments in facilities and helped position Miami to compete in the rapidly changing world of NIL and the transfer portal.

Before arriving at Miami, Radakovich built an impressive résumé with stops at Clemson and Georgia Tech. At Clemson, he was part of one of the most successful stretches in school history, overseeing a department that won multiple national championships and consistently competed at the highest level across several sports.

His experience at three Power Conference programs made him one of the most respected athletic directors in the country, and that’s a big reason why the FBS Athletic Director Association turned to him for this position.

As college athletics continues to face major changes, from revenue sharing to conference realignment and NIL. Radakovich will now help represent and guide athletic directors across the FBS. While his time at Miami has come to an end, he’ll continue to have a significant voice in shaping the future of college sports.

While I don’t disagree with this from what I know from sources I trust and little from what I’ve heard from other sources. This was not fully his choice though

Backbone of America might be debatable. Backbone of college athletics though? Not debatable.

 

It's a high compensation gig, that requires little actual work. I don't blame him for taking it. Miami needs a dynamic AD, and Rad is at the end of his career. He was a great, and much needed bridge. He provided legitimacy when the department needed an adult to come in and take over.

yes, but the entire site and administration have conspired quite successfully in suppressing it from you and google search

 

Dan may not have ‘done much’ but IMO his reputation brought credibility and stability to Miami athletics. Pick apart whatever you like but his predecessor is now AD at Boston College. Quite a fall and deservedly so.

No doubt there’s a lot behind the scenes we’re not aware of and some people have more insider information but I think Radakovich was a good hire for what was needed at the time he was hired.

His replacement has been left with a football program on the cusp of greatness, perhaps a dynasty. The basketball program appears in good shape with Coach Lucas although I don’t closely follow basketball. He did well for his first year, no? The baseball program has not been a consistent presence at Omaha in a long time. Work needs to be done there.
