Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett transferring from Bama

Former Giants LB (?) on ESPN says he and Keyshawn Johnson saw Blake in a Cali 7 0n 7 and both came to the conclusion he was not a fit for the physical style of football in the south. Said the Cali QB's are primadonnas who parents send them to so called QB guru's and have been entitled all their football lives. Wants everything given to them, no willing to compete.

Kaaya also? Lmao, he's earned everything with this team.

These QB dads are very sophisticated these days. They spend tons of money sending their sons to QB camps and to QB gurus. They study depth charts like nuclear physicists study fusion.

Barnett and his dad flipped the script. They felt like Saban tricked him into staying for the year so he'd have his 2nd best QB as his backup all year. Most dudes just stick around for the season once the season starts even if they feel like they got fcked.

Dad reached out and figured out all his options and gave a big fck you to Nickpoleon on the way out.

A source close to Barnett tells 247Sports that he enrolled Thursday at Palomar Junior College in California, where he will attend school through the spring semester, which ends May 27. From there, Barnett, a class of 2015 five-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite, will return to the FBS ranks of college football to play most of the 2017 season.

Texas A&M has already contacted Barnett directly, 247Sports learned Tuesday — an intriguing subplot given the Aggies and Alabama share SEC West real estate.

Jeff Steinberg, who coached Barnett in high school, told 247Sports in a separate conversation that Pac-12 schools Oregon, UCLA, Washington and Cal had spoken with him about his former pupil.

Michigan State, Miami and Florida have also expressed interest.

"I could see him narrowing it down fairly quickly," Steinberg said of Barnett's recruitment, "and trying to make a decision by Christmas time."

Now that Barnett is enrolled at Palomar, any college is free to speak to him, including SEC programs (players who transfer directly from one four-year institution to another are almost always barred from moving in-conference). As a 4-2-4 transfer, Alabama has no control of where Barnett ends up. It’s a massive loophole that 247Sports reported on when Barnett first announced his intent to transfer.

Barnett redshirted in 2015 and started the Crimson Tide’s season opener this year against USC, but was replaced by freshman Jalen Hurts after just two series. Barnett did appear in three games of the first four games for the top-ranked Crimson Tide, completing 11-of-19 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns before deciding to leave the program. His timing to do so along with enrolling at a JUCO allows him to be eligible next season at the school of his choosing. Had Barnett stayed in Tuscaloosa all season he would have had to sit out next fall per NCAA transfer rules.

According to bylaw 14.5.6 in the NCAA transfer guide, Barnett as a 4-2-4 transfer (four-year institution, to a junior college, and back to a four-year institution), can be eligible one calendar year from the date of his transfer (either Sept. 28 or 29, depending on when the paperwork was filed) as long as he graduates with a GPA above 2.5 over an average of 12 hours per term at Palomar.

Would be huge. Hopefully it doesn't scare off Perry if we get him.

How many years to play?

Also he ain't cominf here to ride the pine. You gotta imagine of he comes here then richt has told him he has a solid shot to beat out kaaya. Otherwise would make no sense for Barnett to choose here unless he thought he was better than what we have returning or coming in

With Weldon and Perry in the fold, I'm not sure how much interest we really have or how sure we'll land them both.

He was 6-6 as a freshman with 7 NFL ready players on the roster. Highly debatable that he was the one who deserved to be the QB. Many think he was given the job by Golden so that he could buy himself another year and continue to rob this program of more money.

If you don't think you have a legit started between Allison, Perry, Weldon then you take the transfer. But if you think you have something, you don't **** up chemistry bringing in a kid that is in their class basically. We will recruit studs in 2018.

LOL at him coming here. The next place he goes will have to guarantee him the job. Texas A&M or one of the ****** CA schools will. E where he goes.

Why do you keep pushing this narrative that we're not going to keep both Weldon & Perry??

Weldon just as recent as last week said he's 100% all UM & Perry just said today that he's completely solid & sticking with us.

I don't think Barnett is coming here, I never said he was & never wanted him here...

I simply posted the article from 247 because Miami was mentioned in it, that's all.

He'll end up with either TAMU, Cal, or Oregon.

If he is an upgrade over allison for next season (and beyond) we need to pursue him if the feeling is that kayaa leaves after this year.

Allison steps in after barnett in 2019 as a rs jr, 1 and done

Perry/weldon in 2020 as rs jr - 1 and done

loser of above matchup in 2021 as rs Sr

or some **** like that

He honestly looked meh to me . I would much rather just ride with Perry after BK leaves next year.

Pretty much. Maybe he'll go to Oregon. They have a thing with picking up transfers to play QB lately it seems.

Wrong person hombre. I have never said we would or wouldn't keep either one as I have nothing to go on other than their verbal commitments. I hope they both stick as they're apparently wanted. I want Perry more than Weldon based on what I believe their potential is.

It stands to reason though that we won't keep both if this guy jumps on board. I have no idea where we stand with him, but when was the last time you saw three good to very good prospects in the same class? Then you have the Evan and Jack as well.

We clear? Seems a valid question.
