Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett transferring from Bama

Many of these kids want something given to them and think going to bamer validates them as a player and guarantees a title. What it really says is that they want something already built and do wanna compete against any team they feel is better. I would take a deuce in Tuscaloosa.

Saying he got "beat out by a Freshman" is a little overblown, imo.

I see something totally different.

I see Kiffin convincing Saban that he needs to start recruiting and using more athletic qb's because of the dual threat ability they provide.

All Kiffin had to do was put on tape of Bama getting shredded by dual threat guys time and time again and Saban was convinced because he's a greedy little leprechaun that wins at all cost.

I see that narrative more than i see the freshmen beating him out. That freshmen provides dynamic playmaking ability to go along with the usual "game management" Bama qb's typically provide.

Let's not kid ourselves as to why someone might go to 'Bama.

Alabama has 4 national championships and 18 1st round draft picks since 2009. In that span, we've had 0 titles and three 1st round draft picks.

Are there handout$? No doubt; it's the SEC. Is Tuscaloosa a s#!thole? Sure, especially when compared to the variety of opportunity and entertainment of a big metropolis like Miami.

But wanting to play for an exceptional coach who wins titles and has a record of producing NFL talent, not to mention the draw of being the only show in town, is something that would understandably be of interest to many prospects.

Would I? **** no. I bleed orange and green. I'd line up for the 'Canes no matter the state of the program. And Saban seems like a miserable coach to play for, despite being among the best - if not the best - college coaches in the country. But preferences are subjective, and it is not unreasonable for talent to flock to good teams.

Alabama has 4 national championships and 17 1st round draft picks since 2009. In that span, we've had 0 titles and two 1st round draft picks.

The truth no hate just the facts

The "Why do kids go to Alabama?" discourse in this forum always cracks me up to be honest.
That being said -- with Perry, we definitely don't need this guy. His arm is legit though from what I remember in high school highlights. m

Why do these kids keep signing with Bama smh...
They're young & impressionable... Easily manipulated... And most likely front runners who only want to be with a program that has guaranteed success.

Of course $$$$$ plays a huge part in it as well, but if you're an elite 5-star prospect and you want playing time, Bama is the last place you should sign, especially if you have no local or regional ties to the program.

But, it's the lesson those kids have to learn the hard way... Bama while recruiting you will promise you the world, then once you get there in the program, you're not special anymore... You're just another cog in the machine, so either get to the back of the line or transfer & mess up your career.

Correct....look at that boy Scarborough....remember when he had real interest in us, but Bama pulled him in? Now dude is hardly getting any burn. For Nick Saban, having the #1 class every year is a ego thing for him. He tries to get as many four and five star guys to cripple his opponents, giving two f's about these kid's future. It's sad, but that's the game he plays.

The kid got beat out and clearly knows the score. I am sure his HS coach or parents called around the Pac 12 and found him a home back on the West coast before that said team would sign a prized QB this year.

There's dozens of P5 quarterbacks transferring every year. There's only one starter and nobody wants to spend their entire college career as a backup.

Question, from 2000-2004 , did we have guys transferring out a lot?
Cause we were as stacked as possible but it seems like guys either waited their turn or we were killin teams and everyone was getting PT anyway.

It always happens at bama, they get five star QBs and start a lesser kid, happened with mccarron and the other sims, now they starting hurt
