A key biscayne stadium and Have the west end zone open overlooking the skyline. Have the recruits eat at Rusty pelican and leave ok at the stadium and the skyline.
I meant if your gonna do it again then do it big time.

Back in the last few years of the Orange Bowl era… “UM needs a stadium with modern amenities such as luxury suites, seat backs, more conveniently located for the sizeable amount of season ticket holders based in Broward/Palm Beach”… i.e. Hard Rock Stadium.

I don't think it can be worked within the Hecht's current footprint, seeing as that's the headquarters for all sports and we can't afford to lose use of that space for the time it would take for construction.

I think the intramural fields would serve as a good location, but is it feasible? Where else on campus could something that large go?

We don't need to be Clemson. What is this obsession to be like them? We don't need a gimmick slide!!!! We're the originators. Not interested in wasting money on a bunch of silly ****!!! Just be us!!! We have new dorms, a recently new IPF. Not too much more these young men need. A facelift on the locker rooms maybe? Perhaps a state of the art sports recovery as part of U Health? I don't know what they have now.

Who exactly is the target audience for the “Build a new stadium near campus in Coral Gables” strategy?

The 4,200 UM students who live on campus?

The majority of people who actually go to games… i.e. alumni/donors… live in Broward, Palm Beach or drive in from other parts of the state such as Orlando.

I, personally, wouldn’t admit to that. Because it’s not true. It’s not about where the stadium is (at least to me and my group). I’ve been to 90% of the home games for the last 25 years. Don’t care about traffic or convenience or…

The main reason why we should have a stadium (again, nothing to do with cutting my commute by 21 minutes) is so we are no longer part of the 3% of college football teams that has a landlord.
 
We can't get approval for the last 2,000 seats in the BUC after 20 years but people think we are going to build an on-campus stadium with all the associated parking that is needed as well.

I will stay pessimistic until I have a LOGICAL reason to feel otherwise.

None of that has anything to do with the fact Coral Gables and that area couldn't handle the influx of traffic that a 50K stadium would bring on game day.

Yup, there is room for a stadium and parking garage—but people are ignoring what 50K fans on game day will do regarding traffic in the area. It would be a complete sh1tshow over there. No way Gables approves anything like this—I don't care who gets paid off.

If it generates revenue, that's fine. My post was addressing the accusation that the only reason for objection is because we'd have a longer drive from the north.

Oh no no that wouldn't be nearly enough space for a stadium. Just meant that area as a potential option for adding/expanding athletic facilities.
 
It's not just about the stadium. They want to build the new athletics facilities there also. That is why the Gables location is so important to them. It still seems to be a acreage issue for all this to me, even if the property could be aquired

We should focus on building a winning football program. That will fill the stands. A new stadium in Coral Gables will never happen. You have space, traffic and infrastructure issues. Hard Rock is a very nice facility, pretty good access vs. a stadium in the city where traffic would be a nightmare.

I saw someone suggest knocking down the Seaquarium and putting it there . Is that plausible ?
