For those absolving Mario and the staff...

App State v TAMU.
Purdue v Ohio State
Marshall v Notre Dame.
people absolutely crushed first time HC Marcus freeman for that Marshall loss.

people absolutely crushed poor coaching and specifically poor offensive coaching by fisher in the App State loss.

I guess youre saying coaching matters and poor coaching led to losses?

What about Ryan Day? Is a poor coach? He on that list to? He had the talent and coaching advantage against Purdue.

Ryan day has won more than any coach we've had in the last 20 years and has led OSU to the playoffs and a title game. I think having a random loss here and there is completely fine. its not like Purdue is Middle Tennessee. also, you want to hate on Ryan day for losing to prudue by 4 scores in 2018? they went 13-1 and won their bowl against Washington that year. yeah 13-1. good job with that comparison. I thought Marios best win in his career was at the shoe last year. I was hoping wed see more of that early on esp against a pathetic schedule we have so far. we haven't exactly faced a single good team and plenty of weak ones where we could even talk ourselves into being good

Doesn't matter. He lost to a inferior team. According to you, it's not suppose to happen when you have the talent advantage. He had both.

That Oregon team would have smack this team under Manny. We have over inflated how good this team is. Alot missed evaluation on players.

Mario, Gattis, and Steele have to improve. But the players own their **** too. I don't see that happen. We don't have guys that are internally motivated. If I was Jaylen, I would be practice ball security until I squeeze the air out of the ball. Or Mallory I would be out there catching trying to catch a 100 football without a drop. If I drop one, reset the count. Leonard Hankerson comes to mind.

These player like playing football. They don't love it. The loses have hurt more than the wins feel good. That ain't this team. It's Mario job to get them there, but it ain't happening in 5 games.

if Mario goes 13-1 in a year we only lose to MTSU I assure you ill be fine. ive blamed both players and coaches. both suck right now. fun fact, I took an elective w hank. really nice dude and played AAU ball with Shakeys kid

They all work with people like that. I don't know why they think that it doesn't apply to football.

It shocks me that people don't understand that maybe, just maybe, this roster - mostly evaluated, recruited, and committed to Manny Diaz (who everyone agrees was horrendous at all things) - isn't full of hard workers, great teammates, dawgs, etc. Nevermind this roster just not being that good. They've seen it lose in so many embarrassing ways before Mario Cristobal was hired. These same guys. And quickly pivot to trashing coaches that have won at numerous stops but are struggling to get this group to play consistently and to a different standard.

The players were literally playing better under the previous staff. Except a few known guys who have always struggled, we overall looked better under Diaz, and you guys are blaming the players. That's ridiculous.

The offense looked much more fluid than it has this season. You're forgetting though about the invisible LBs, total lack of pressure from the DL and the tackling under Manny (which was the worst I had ever seen). His D was shaky last season as recruiting misses at LB, CB and DL really caught up. We paid a heavy price for that last year & the issues were not adequately addressed in the Portal (most of the guys added were not impact players). Actually really surprised Mario didn't do better in the Portal.

We badly need to win the majority of our remaining games. If that happens, the rest of the plan should fall into place & it should take us 1-2 really strong recruiting classes to start climbing back. Mario needs to recruit like a banshee for a few cycles and then we'll see a more physical team on both sides of the ball. I pray that we can show enough spark on offense to attract some great skill position players. That ultimately will be the biggest X factor that determines whether we get back to elite status or just good status in 3-4 years (especially WR).

Yea. Jaylen fumbling the ball. **** we're we thinking!? A RB holding on to the ball?! That's not his job. Come Mario on to the ball. You are the head coach.
Why is Knighton being used as a short yardage running back?

He had another carry inside the 10 on Saturday. He’s proven to be not good at it, so why are the coaching putting him in that spot?

What you say can be true but it also could be true that you could've dropped any number of "good" coaches into Hecht the Sunday before Middle Tennessee to serve as interim HC and they would've found a way to win that game with our roster as-is.

I'm not saying Mario and the staff won't end up being great here because one game or even one season doesn't determine that. I'm just saying that we need to be careful about going too far in the direction of giving him too much of a pass by creating a narrative that he inherited an absolute dumpster fire. He did not. Culture issues? Sure. He's a culture guy. It should've been fixed enough to avoid national embarrassment already even if he had to play 3rd stringers that day.

To be fair...I don't think I'm giving him a pass per se...but it's currently very tough for me to honestly assess the coaching side when there is just so much slop on the field. The same slop we've seen from this same group now over two different staffs.

Agreed and I wasn't implying that you personally were handing out passes. I was just basically returning the gist of my original post.

Ahhh, it IS good to be a Canes fan though. Once again we have to try to decipher if the players absolutely suck or if the coaches do too and to what degree to blame both. Fun!!!!

That's Weird...because Lashlee used him in goaline situation several times last year.

1:20
3:28
6:27
7:33
9:02
9:26
10:23

Parrish and Knighton are listed a the same weight. We use Parrish in short yardage situation all the time.

who called those four goal line plays. who blew a timeout in the third quarter that immediately bit us in the *** after they did a check w me for 30 seconds. who continues to start players that are getting exposed on the field. why change the scheme to fit the roster after 4 games and not know the issues that we all saw in the spring? the fumble is on rooster. missed field goal is on the kicker and to a greater extent our lack of a ST coach or at least a visible one (they waited four games to use smith back there and basically blew a game on that move). the loss is on all of them but ive seen coaches all over the country that took over this year and are coaching up their left over roster and preparing them well than we are.
Y’all don’t want to admit it but it was a good timeout in a pivotal moment of the game that resulted in a first down 🤷‍♂️ Rooster f^cked it up later. Mario has to shoulder blame for a lot of things but y’all are just looking for reasons that literally don’t make sense if you actually watched the game.

Y’all should be b!tching at TVD being so nonchalant on that last drive and not realizing the situation when we had 0 Timeouts to work with. Can’t check down with no timeouts in bounds, and buddy needed to get OOB asap.

You thinking about the wrong 4th down call. I’m talking about the first qtr 4th down play. Did all that for nobody to get open and we should’ve took the 3

Would have liked more through the portal but to knock the job which was done is short sided at best. Sure there’s your portal studs, but there’s more in the portal who weren’t getting the playing time they thought they deserved at their old school. What does that say about them in terms of coming here and plugging and playing.

I’ll say it again. The WR room had no quality depth and no true game breaking stud. The LB room was devoid of talent, depth, and playmakers. The DL had some pieces but no depth. The CB’s are pedestrian at best and low on extremely low on numbers. And the OL is devoid of talent and size with few exceptions.

Could’ve would’ve should’ve but ultimately it’s a handful of plays over two games which cost us. Either way this roster has pieces, just not the correct numbers in the correct spots to be where we want to be. The landscape is too competitive nowadays to just walk out and dominate. It’s earned through a staff building through recruiting and culture and housing a bunch of dogs who are going to work their asses off.

the entire offense is nonchalant. they proved that against atm. they dont run quick. also, it wasn't a good timeout bc we burned the entire play clock looking at the sidelines. it was a boneheaded timeout in a spot where they had plenty of time to check with me and get the correct call down there. anyways its done

Shannon. Golden. Richt. Diaz.

Left the cupboard full bro! Should have been competing for a playoff spot year one.. right?
His first year as HC at Oregon, with a "bare cupboard" from Taggart and Helfrich and no portal, MC went 9-4. The year after that he went 12-2, with a Rose Bowl win.
