The Players.

A lot of people seen that Butch brought us back from the dead in the U Part 2 but what i notice in the similarities between the first and the sequel is the players wanting it badly. players holding themselves accountable. players taking defeats like the end of the world.

ED Reed- This is not why i came here. Im tired of losing

Players running practices by themselves.

Players playing the warchant all week (something Nick Saban does with his Bama players for rivalry games)

Players wanting it bad enough to bring this here U back.

We have none of that here right now. we need that spark and im hoping it starts with Kayaa because i see a lot of that in him. I fthe players can realize that The U they have on their Helmet represent a culture that will sacrifice anything to not lose. then we will find ourselves back. and if Golden cant bring a culture like that. he needs to go. point blank period.

ain't happening as long as Golden's here.. He's such a control Freak, do you really think he'd give the players that much Freedom

Golden has proven that he doesn't not fit Miami. He belongs elsewhere. Wisconsin, Pitt, BC, anywhere but here.
 
Folden would turn Ed Reed into Ed Grimley.

Historically bad HC means your team is going to suck no matter who you recruit or how much money your school has.

Just because he sucks here doesn't mean he'd be good somewhere else. He'll suck wherever he goes. He just needs to hope that expectations are low like they've become here.

Underachieving at a toilet that welcomes underachieving doesn't mean the Corch is doing a good job.

Well, a 6-6 coach ain't diddly in Miami but a 6-6 coach in BC would be pretty secure job-wise.

Incorrect. It all starts with the HC. Butch is the guy who brought those players in. Golden is not capable of Butch's level of recruiting/evaluating.
 
He's had plenty of talent -- especially the last two seasons -- to not be an ACC Coastal bottom dweller. It's decidedly not the players. It's starts and ends with Golden and his staff, not the players.
 
These players don't want to be great. They wouldn't have been blown out by UVA and Pitt if they were worth a ****.
 
Golden doesn't want twisted, demented savages that refuse to lose. He wants smart, educated players that won't commit personal fouls and couldn't be at a worse place as SFLA players are the complete opposite of what he wants as they win with their athleticism and because their coaches let them loose
 
I don't think people understand that recruiting is all about connecting.

Butch got players that had heart and were determined to win, because he himself was that way. Al can't get these players, let alone the huge talent gap b/n his and Butch's players.

There may be players that really want to win, but wanting to and having the ability to are two different things. You might have the will, but do you have the way?
 
If the OP's theory was 100% correct then Clappy would still be here and chasing at least his 5th title and we'd all be wondering where the next statue of him will be erected as we already put up about 3 of them. How many times can Uncle Larry turn down NFL jobs?! The guy must bleed orange and green! Jimmy who? Howard? That was 100 years ago. Butch went shopping for the ingredients but it took Coker to make the meal! WOOOOOO!!!!!

He's not even Zook. Zook was a terrible head coach also who deserved to be fired but at least he was bringing in top talent every year at every position. Have you seen our 2015 class yet? Do you really think he's going to hold onto all of those studs already committed for 2016.

When they let Zook go and brought in a real coach they won a couple of championships. Saying that Golden=Zook is a big slap in the face to Zook.

The Zooker is currently employed by the Packers as an assistant special teams coach. Anybody think that Alfredo could get that job right now (without Alonzo pulling some strings)? For chrissakes, gimme the Zooker and Wanny as joint head corches here and we'd have already won the Coastal multiple times while also leading the country in punts.
 
Yes Folden sucks but OP is right, the culture of players here sucks right now (and yes part of that is goldens fault) but the fact is some players seem like they don't care if they lose. And that's bull**** in my eyes. Bringing in a guy like Butch would help direct the culture in the right direction but ultimately the players need to show that heart and determination that the teams from the past have shown.
