For all the mopes that like to bash Mario:

Yeah, I forgot I did that. It's already been brought up. I drank the Kool aid, I'll own it. Thanks for posting just to call me a dope. Hope it made you feel better.

I gotta admit, your previous reply of **** I'm old and forgot was the best way to own that prediction. We all have those moments and it's like ****, I guess I did say or do that. I laughed, but not in a bad way.

Plus Romberg hasnt been a blind homer. He was very openly critical of how things were going in the past. For him to post something that positive about our near future means he's really seen and heard things that he likes.
That's the thing. Vast majority of us have been critical at many points in the past and **** near uniformly now we're all saying the same thing that we're making significant progress.

The former players say this crap every year, especially when it involves one of their own. Meaningless wishcasting.
Maybe check into what your spewing atleast just a little. Plenty of us (Brett included)have been critical of things since Coker days and including Onion. Onion Incase maybe you weren't aware is a former player,he's one of our own & he was horrible here as a head coach and hit and miss as a DC. But set the program even further back than comer did because while coker **** sure neglected all our local connections atleast they were still intact. Onion **** on all our local connections and burned them to the ground... Is that critical enough of one of our own for you? Plenty of us just last season had things to say about Mario that were concerns and he addressed most of those concerns. That's y'all's go to line whenever the negativity really kicks in around here. They're all just Miami people. The common theme in Miami people from when we were actually relevant, is we knew what it took to get us there. We're seeing that now. Don't know what people on here have been through in life. But I strongly doubt most have been through this. So myself I'm not too concerned about the opinions of people who haven't walked in those shoes.

Lol. This post means nothing.

Every year I buy the hype and every year I wind up disappointed. There are reasons to believe that this could be a turning point. The OL should be much improved and Dawson and Guidry should be an improvement over Gattis and Steele. I say the coordinators should be better because the last two guys were guys whose schemes are probably better for programs that have more established talent. Guidry and Dawson's schemes don't rely on elite talent.

I rarely voice my own opinions on here, but I simply cannot stand how about half of this board continually bashes Mario. These mopey dopes were obviously expecting at least 9 or 10 wins last year, without taking into account the @&^% roster and state of the locker room he walked into.

It takes time to rebuild after years of devastation. To show how some of the all time greatest coaches did in their first 2-4 years at a major school, here's some records for a few.

Bear Bryant: TA&M-1-9, 7-2-1, 9-0-1.
ALA- 5-4, 7-2-2, 8-1-2.

Joe Paterno: PSU- 5-5-0, 8-2-1, 11-0-0.

Nick Saban: ALA- 7-6, 12-2.

Bobby Bowden: FSU- 5-6, 10-2.

Woody Hayes: OSU- 4-3-2, 6-3, 6-3, 10-0.

John McKay: USC- 4-6, 4-5-1, 11-0.

Does everyone see the progression? It takes time to install the culture and roster changes. Stop griping about the last 20 years. I've suffered right along with you. It was a combination of bad hiring and bad leadership.

And don't even @ me about NIL, because the paradigm shift happened right when Mario got here. Lots of people swore that it would be the difference maker for us, before the rest of CFB caught up.

So please, stop whining and moaning and be a Canes fan and support the team without spewing your agony for others to read.
Best post I've read in a while

We are having this ridiculous “expectations” debate again

No one thinks 8 wins is a good thing or the standard

Some people just think when you go 5-7 the next logical step is 8 wins before you start winning 10+

This stance of fans beating their chests talking about not lowering expectations is absurd but if it makes you feel better, then go for it I guess

He's here forever, and it's a new season, so.... The past is the past. Here's hoping he, and our Canes, look like a real team this year.

That being said. We simply can not look like we did last year.

It was like we were trying to build an MVP All Madden Team or something using microtransactions rather than building up a team of guys that work well together last year.

My thing is, in the 30 second I need instant gratification TikTok generation, can these young men wait and build it. In those times, many coaches you referenced, it was different. Mario will have to put in the work for sure and with NIL he's going to need a lot of help.
