For all the mopes that like to bash Mario:

I mean u do have an image of Mr sinister in the corner so clearly u have no business winning regardless. You're subconsciously showing ur a mope regardless... I mean the man spent his comic book life getting his *** kicked & NOW you have a problem with that? LMFAO

I'm just being a smartass Incase it gonna get sensitive on me.
Ive been canes true believer since my childhood, I rather be HappyCane

Point would be he made changes... He adapted. Yet y'all (not necessarily u)still don't give him credit for it. You can't constantly move the bar. He addressed what he had to and now it's something else. So let the man work. That's what he's supposed to do.
Come on now. We’re setting the bar quite low if we’re complaining about the highest paid coach in the school’s history not getting enough credit for firing arguably the worst OC in the school’s history and replacing him a competent coach. Yes, in doing so he is changing the offensive philosophy, but it’s not saying much about Mario’s tenure if that’s what we’re holding up as an achievement that we should be giving Mario more credit for.

I rarely voice my own opinions on here, but I simply cannot stand how about half of this board continually bashes Mario. These mopey dopes were obviously expecting at least 9 or 10 wins last year, without taking into account the @&^% roster and state of the locker room he walked into.

It takes time to rebuild after years of devastation. To show how some of the all time greatest coaches did in their first 2-4 years at a major school, here's some records for a few.

Bear Bryant: TA&M-1-9, 7-2-1, 9-0-1.
ALA- 5-4, 7-2-2, 8-1-2.

Joe Paterno: PSU- 5-5-0, 8-2-1, 11-0-0.

Nick Saban: ALA- 7-6, 12-2.

Bobby Bowden: FSU- 5-6, 10-2.

Woody Hayes: OSU- 4-3-2, 6-3, 6-3, 10-0.

John McKay: USC- 4-6, 4-5-1, 11-0.

Does everyone see the progression? It takes time to install the culture and roster changes. Stop griping about the last 20 years. I've suffered right along with you. It was a combination of bad hiring and bad leadership.

And don't even @ me about NIL, because the paradigm shift happened right when Mario got here. Lots of people swore that it would be the difference maker for us, before the rest of CFB caught up.

So please, stop whining and moaning and be a Canes fan and support the team without spewing your agony for others to read.
This is the place to spew agony though...

Mope: "...But <insert coach> won big in his year one".
Mope: "...But muh blue chip ratio"

These arguments are frustratingly dumb and low-IQ that I question whether they are worthy of anybody's reply. Let's ignore the fact that a conga line of d-league coaches and their staff have danced their way into these hallowed halls for quite some time. What good to us is a highly touted recruit when they arrive here and are coddled by our staff--told how good they are when in reality they need to be told their good is not good enough.

Look, mopes. It ain't worth a reply and nobody should spend another minute entertaining you. Football starts in less than a week and you over here choosing to be sad and impotent mopes. Take your daily dosage of Prozac, hit the weight room or go rub and tug if that helps you feel better. I will choose anything else over whatever miserable **** it is you got going on.

Mario did give us the worst season of my lifetime. He accomplished that with a team that was doing well with the blue chip ratio and an all-star coaching staff. But as for history he still has time. He needs to win this year. Stacking classes is something that Jimbo does (at A&M)... Pretty much everyone else starts stacking classes after they have won with the formerly "loser" players.

For comparison here's how every championship coach did with their team in the first couple of years since 1900.

You'll notice (particularly in the modern era) there's not a lot of "team building" happening over years. Good coaches take over losers and they start winning by year 2. I mean you could still build a team slowly over several years but when we're talking about championship coaches they start turning things around quickly.View attachment 252125

Mario had a very solid offseason. Landed a top 10 class, got a bunch of new assistants including a OC and DC who a good portion of us are happy with at the moment. Obviously that could change in a hurry lol.

He purged the most of the Manny players thank God and picked up some solid portal additions. Now the real thing begins next Friday.

How many coaches who replaced both coordinators going into year 2 succeed going forward? I’d say the odds are stacked against Mario. With recruiting already subpar… another **** season could be the nail in the coffin.

I asked a similar question regarding Chaney after his sophomore year. BesidesFrank Gore, how many RBs who had 2 season ending injuries went on to be successful? I’d say the odds don’t favor Chaney in the least

The final scrimmage of the mopes vs slurpers

Appreciate OP for organizing the extra reps and pushing us towards finalizing depth charts for the season opener

I’d like to tell everyone who sits where but OP said no pictures or video was allowed

I can confirm SMD saw Franchise off to the side working the stationary bike

There’s a flip side to that coin……what have the Canes put into that same universe

That's what I took part of putting into this universe and it's what y'all simply refuse to understand. We're not content with simply winning some games. Well be content when we have a standard again. Till then y'all do u & keep that energy. Cause we did best when we knew it was us against everyone. Our fans included.

What about those of us who can objectively criticize Mario for his failures and shortcomings without calling him names or being nasty, but also acknowledge and praise him for his hard work, accomplishments, and successes.

I call us realists. Where do we fit in with this battle of the mopes vs the slurpers? The mopes think we are slurpers when we give any credit to Mario, but the slurpers think we are mopes if we critique Mario in just the slightest regard.

The S&P+ had last year’s team as the worst Miami team since 1970.

His recruiting is starting to collapse.

Everybody should be very down on the program until Cristobal gives you a reason not to be. There’s no benefit of the doubt after what we are seeing.
1. I agree with S&P there...but hey, we beat Florida.
2. I disagree.
3. Not me. A talented roster is being built. There’s no question that our O-line talent is far better than what‘s been thrown out there.

I’m not a Mario apologist.
I’m just not going to judge based on 1 season, where, there are reasons (for and against MC) why things turned out the way they did.

I would call you a person capable of ruining a perfectly good joke

I think this is the majority here and where I feel I’m at and a lot of great posters I talk to are at. Just trying to be fair and objective, hoping for Mario to be successful and being honest, whether deemed positive or negative. The fringes drive the majority crazy.

Exactly, why is everyone on such opposite sides there’s no room for realists.

Mario’s 1st year was the worst for the canes in my lifetime, I understand the culture change argument but there’s no reason Miami should be below .500 in the ACC. There’s no excuse for that and the coordinator hires are a failure on his part.

With that being said I’m excited for this year and believe Mario can still turn this around. I believe he is capable of bringing the toughness we’ve needed for years in order to finally compete for the ACC and hopefully more.

We’re so close to the season it’s time for the mopes to give a little hope. And the slurpers to understand why some aren’t 100% bought in yet.
