Glad to jump into the app.
Is it possible or has anyone mentioned a possible move for Elijah Lofton to LB? It seems with his speed & ability to transition quickly that it would be a smart move & I could see him being ELITE at that position.
Just an observation. GO CANE!!

Honestly probably his best position but TE is such a mess they cant afford to move him now even though he is not a TE and he is not a RB either or atleast not with our RB room we have..

That is my point. I think they should make rhe move now, since they have a player that can plug the spot in the line up. Gilbert & Briggs can handle it & it would give Lofton some time to learn LB.

Oh if only being big and fast were all it took to be a good LBer.

I think a lot of people vastly underestimate what it takes to play LBer beyond the obvious physicality.
Oh I don't think that is all it takes to be a good LB. I think it takes instincts, good vision, and the willingness to bring the wood. In alofton's case everything that makes him a hard cover as a TE, should help him be an ELITE LB.

I never was a believer in the best football player on the team with lofton but Gilbert right now has shown nothing to just be handed starting TE, to me he is like Bauman where he is default starter because there is no one else with recruited veteran size. Like you have no choice to throw him out there because you never solved the Riley Williams attrition, position is a mess, hard to move someone who has 2 years of playing when not injured

I agree about attition, but Gilbert is there now. He has to learn the position, just like if you where to move Lofton to LB. They are there now it is learn the position on the fly. We won't have to play anyone very difficult at all until the trip to South Bend. What better time than to do it now?

If not LB, maybe can pack on pounds this summer & compete for playing time at guard. Or backup center. Let’s just admit what he is & drop the crazy expectations. He’s not a prototype TE, but a complimentary piece in an offense with an ****nal of weapons.

He's on his way to being the Miami GOAT hype job

Sure, but I think the real question we should be asking is "can he play striker"?

He may not be a prototypical TE, but he can certainly be an huge threat in the passing and running game if he can just drop the bad weight and get his speed back. Anyone at practice last spring saw how unguardable he was in scrimmages. He was the second best offensive player (behind Toney).

At the end of the day, it’s kinda on Lofton to get his body right. If he can’t, the staff is going to focus on getting a guy like Briggs ready for year 1. Briggs had a great spring, so clocks ticking for Lofton

Clock is definitely ticking, but he’s never going to be the second best offensive player. He can be a nice piece amongst many weapons. Don’t see him as a major or primary threat in passing or run game. Those positions are loaded with talent already & gonna have some who never see the field.
