Really, when did he do that?
Seriously? LMAO
Again, I am not gonna knock Folden today.
So, let's have an X's and O's discussion. You're going to tell me he doesn't blitz Perryman or Bush or blitz the corners off the edge? What exactly are we doing differently from a scheme perspective? We're not standing McCord up? We do appear to be tackling much, much better. We're also communicating much better as well. And Grace is getting more and more reps. Perryman has really picked up his game the last two weeks. So much so he is a legitimate Butkus candidate. Bush is picking up his game and he has been terrific the last two weeks.
We're blitzing more. That's one sign of our change in philosophy. We are doing more with the front 4-5 in terms of pressure instead of relying on a 3 man DT rush. I look at the box and the last few games the box seems to be more congested. Instead of 6 guys in the box, there seemed to be 7. Anyway, there aren't monumental changes but you can't say that there haven't been adjustments to the philosophy on D.
As for Grohlden, what do people expect him to say - that he changed philosophy or is doing something different? Of course not. That will only invite scrutiny on Donofrio and Grohlden won't let that happen - publicly at least.
There is nothing that we have seen and seen a lot of. We rarely rush 3. We're running a lot of 3-4 over and 3-4 under looks, which we do depending on the formations.
Perryman is playing like a Butkus winner the last two games. Bush has been lights out. We're playing a lot more Grace and a lot more Elder (who is without a doubt our best corner). We're seeing more Kamalu on the inside, which is a good thing.
I think they're more confident in our safety play, which up to the Virginia Tech game was truly awful.
We'll see if we've turned the corner, but the kids are tackling much, much better.
