Folden on Joe Rose

some of you guys have single cell brains.

what is he going to say? yes, we made the mistake of not making adjustments and because were (or are) close to getting fired, we made some significant adjustments by playing closer to the LOS, being more aggressive etc.

absolutely not.

Or maybe the players are just executing an extremely complicated defensive scheme better. No need to hate on the man for giving the players some credit finally.

He won't admit it cuz den he has to fire Dorito which he doesn't wanna do. He's trying to save dat mans job.

or so he's able to put improved Miami's defense on his resume when he's looking for work somewhere else

He can't say Improved. Unless he says, I ruined Miami Defense and then fixed my ***** Up against mediocre teams.

I'd so much rather believe the guy is figuring stuff out than go through another year or two of new coach growing pains. Let's save the hate until after FSU. Just like we expect out of folden, it's ok to change your stance every once in a while.

Joe: Coach, the Defense is playing so much better. Did you make changes or are you running the same stuff?

Folden: We're executing better.

WTF

Folden can't even admit that Changes were made to the Defense, not necessarily scheme, but how you allow players to execute the scheme. It is F*cking easier to Execute when your DBs and LBs are not so far back that they are spotted in Boca Raton. The players had it (Aggression) in them from day one. Better late than never.....I guess.

I am not gonna knock Folden today. But Gee Wiz, I just wish he would stop calling Canes Fans and Former Players Stupid.

We will see if the new found aggression continues against FSU.

NO EXCUSES.

Really, when did he do that?

Seriously? LMAO

Again, I am not gonna knock Folden today.

So, let's have an X's and O's discussion. You're going to tell me he doesn't blitz Perryman or Bush or blitz the corners off the edge? What exactly are we doing differently from a scheme perspective? We're not standing McCord up? We do appear to be tackling much, much better. We're also communicating much better as well. And Grace is getting more and more reps. Perryman has really picked up his game the last two weeks. So much so he is a legitimate Butkus candidate. Bush is picking up his game and he has been terrific the last two weeks.

We're blitzing more. That's one sign of our change in philosophy. We are doing more with the front 4-5 in terms of pressure instead of relying on a 3 man DT rush. I look at the box and the last few games the box seems to be more congested. Instead of 6 guys in the box, there seemed to be 7. Anyway, there aren't monumental changes but you can't say that there haven't been adjustments to the philosophy on D.

As for Grohlden, what do people expect him to say - that he changed philosophy or is doing something different? Of course not. That will only invite scrutiny on Donofrio and Grohlden won't let that happen - publicly at least.

This.

I'm not hating on Folden nor his Boy. I want to see the Product that takes the field against FSU too.

There is nothing that we have seen and seen a lot of. We rarely rush 3. We're running a lot of 3-4 over and 3-4 under looks, which we do depending on the formations.

Perryman is playing like a Butkus winner the last two games. Bush has been lights out. We're playing a lot more Grace and a lot more Elder (who is without a doubt our best corner). We're seeing more Kamalu on the inside, which is a good thing.

I think they're more confident in our safety play, which up to the Virginia Tech game was truly awful.

We'll see if we've turned the corner, but the kids are tackling much, much better.

Pentagon, you listed a lot of personnel changes. Have we seen a more aggressive playcalling, or is it truly just getting different players to execute the same D? I recall after the Nebraska game coaches were saying DP should've been 7 yards off the ball instead of 8... Is it the nuances and 1 yard here or there that is making the difference? From a non football mind it certainly seems like the play calling is much more aggressive against middle pack ACC teams.

Still cant believe Fentress should be seeing as many snaps as he is. Love his heart and effort but not close to being talented enough. Special teams and a few reps on D is Max. IMO.

Guy doesn't make changes (adjustments) and he gets dumped on

Then, it appears he makes changes, wins a few games and he gets dumped on because he doesn't explain it your satisfaction. Or you argue they were inferior opponents or that he is blaming players etc..,

News flash; Al Golden isn't going anywhere unless he chosen to. What the commentators were saying during UNC game about UM heading in right direction represents mainstream opinion.

Regardless of what happens vs FSU he's going to be here for a long time. Is he perfect? No. Is he the HC of the Hurricanes? Yes. Get used to it.

If he says "I made some adjustments with the front 7", then:
-He's sitting that the posters were placed in bad situations stuff did not allow them to be successful
-I realize it and have adjusted

He looks humble, and now the players are absolutely absolved of their previous ****** play. Most haters will acknowledge this as a sign of personal progress and have hope for the future.

By saying, the players finally understand my system, you start to wonder, what happens next year with graduation.

Even if he didn't do anything different, that is the right thing to say.

Blame yourself, praise others. Rule of being a great leader.

Is it easier for people to believe 22 players suddenly had a light go off, or 1 head coach did?

When he said we were executing better (Doh).

We are executing better. Same scheme, better execution, better job of players playing their roles and sticking to their assignments. That allows the overall defense to play more aggressively.

OK, let me get this straight. After getting trounced by several mediocre teams, AG mentions lack of execution as one of the reasons. Fans bash him for throwing the players under the bus.

Fast forward. The defense is executing whatever defense it is they're calling, which certainly looks different to the casual fan. Instead of taking credit for changing the scheme, AG says the players are just executing better, which would be the opposite of throwing the players under the bus (instead, giving the players all the credit). Fans bash AG for not admitting that he changed anything.

Do I have that right?

Goldens new skill of trouncing terrible ACC teams is definitely a breath fresh air, we all agree it's an improvement, but a far cry from beating FSU. You're riding that Golden train awfully hard, so if/when this b*tch derails are you ready to jump off, or you gonna go down with this ship?

I'm still not back on the Golden train, but you do realize that UNC had been racking up serious yards and points against just about anyone the last few weeks right?

Definite sign of improvement. I want us to be relevant, I want him to be a good coach. But should we catch a couple more blowouts, I'll still be ready for a change. Call it guarded optimism. Just wondering if the Goldenbots will ever face reality.

What if we are more aggressive against F$U and still lose by double digits?

I agree with you if we go back to the passive bull **** and allow Winston to eat us alive Golden needs to be gone right after the game.

B.S. You really believe that after 3 and a half seasons, the light bulb just magically turned on for the players at exactly the same time when Golden's seat was starting to get warm? These guys who were highly touted recruits in high school, somehow forgot or never knew how to tackle or cover a WR, but now they are suddenly tackling better and blanketing receivers and it has absolutely nothing to do with a scheme change? I'm not buying that for a second. Golden clearly will not admit it publicly but this is a different defense then the one we have seen for the last 3 seasons.

Do we really expect a self centered, rigid man to admit his was wrong after 3 + years? ***!
