Mario doesn’t call the offense or the defense. Blame him for his hires, clock management, time out usage…even the discipline stuff after 4th down kind of but he wasn’t calling plays.

Soooooo…. He’s off the hook for any playcall criticism? Is his whole philosophy of keeping it close, going conservative at the wrong times, wasting precious timeouts, and poor clock management fair game? How about his guys losing their composure at the end?

Read my post you just quoted. Clock management - absolutely his issue. The personal fouls- yes he is allowing that. It’s on him. Conservative?- do you believe he tells Dawson what plays to call? Going for it on fourth down would be his call. Did he not go for it today at some point? There was a fourth and 12 from midfield at one point but that would have been pretty crazy to go for that.
 
Mario didn't do the team any favors today especially if he is responsible for the bizarre spots where the offense decided to be conservative, but...

Guidry got abused today.

You want to whine about something today; how come Mr. Broyles Award Candidate Guidry couldn’t find a way to stop the rarely-used-before-today tight end—Louisville’s duo with some massive plays; eight grabs for 101 yards and a touchdown?

There was your ballgame.

Fletcher had almost 130:yards rushing. In other threads people are mad we didn’t run on the goal line. Hindsight is undefeated on specific play calls. Big picture I felt there was a good balance of run pass and it was obvious Dawson was trying to keep TVD out of trouble, especially in the first half.

Why would my one comment and support for basketball have anything to do with what others said about the coach 4 years ago? The team went to the Elite 8 and Final 4 in back to back years and has a top 15 team this year. Money goes a lot farther when you spend it on a sport that only plays 5 guys at a time. You don’t have to follow them but your response was beyond idiotic.

If Miami rolled TVD out to throw and it’s incomplete you’re flipping your argument as asking why we didn’t just pound it behind a big line with Fletcher on 3rd-and-2, in a career game where the kid rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns (and the Canes had 159 total on the ground.)

You sound like the same Twitter morons whining about a timeout on fourth down on final drive.

Miami wanted to see Louisville’s alignment on the game’s most important play—so they called it, Restrepo got jammed up, George was the far side option and TVD put it too high.

If Miami scores, the timeout is “genius” as they got the play call right—and zero or three timeouts doesn’t matter at 38-38; Louisville is worried about time, not Miami.

Calling something dumb if it didn’t work is bush-league. Nothing wrong with rushing Fletcher on 3rd-and-2 the way Miami was running and nothing wrong with a late timeout to try and get right play called to tie game.

Bigger issue; how did Guidry’s defense allow Louisville to go 77 yards on 11 plays (aided by a garbage penalty, albeit) to get a touchdown in the final seconds of the half.

Fletcher gets the first down, Louisville never gets the ball back first half.
 
The defense got raped today-

How do you explain that after Guidry has mostly gotten everything he could out of what he was given talent wise-

Leonard Taylor I don’t think he even played a snap-Our interior sucks Branson Deen and Jake Lichtenstein are bandaids for lack of depth-

Mario needs to fix that like he did the OL until he does you’ll be a 500 team at best-

Plummer had all day -He’s an experienced guy but, he’s not the kind of guy that should be beating us-

If we hit the portal we got to do better than we have at DT.

Fair enough. I think it was 3rd and 6 though. Gotta throw a pass. I understand tvd is a turnover machine but we gotta try and make some plays against a good team

Do you think Mario would let his OC freestyle out there the entire game? We had a lead the half was closing out and all of a sudden we start playing p*ssy 1950’s offense. Just an educated guess that the ultra conservative caveman in charge had something to do with it.

Settle down. I just thought it was poor play calling and not trying to win. I believe it was third and 6. Louisville knew we were about to run up the middle. Gotta toss a pass there. We played for a punt
